You need to make sure that the 3G USB modem you have has drivers for Linux (most don't), this is one potential drawback of this unit running Linux.
I would contact 3 technical support and ask them? or check the model of the unit you have and search the manufactures technical support area of the website?0 -
I have phoned my local store and one is now on cs desk waiting for me £150.
Beware I will be back with more qs. Thank you all very much.0 -
it uses Mozilla Firefox as web browser and yes it has full wireless b&g standard enabled. suggest you see the Acer website for detailed spec.
I can't see why a 3g modem wouldn't work - although it depends on whether there is a linux driver available. If upgrading to XP then no problem.0 -

For anyone who wants to understand what the unit does - visit www.acer.co.uk and click on the Acer Aspire 1 banner, watch the sales/preview/details and look over what the unit can do for you, and its features.
(Yes - it has wireless) !!0 -
I picked one of these up on Thursday and it's awesome. Mostly wanted for my 3 month trip around the States when it should come in handy for internet access.
I really like the Linux interface so far and think I'll be sticking with it. Excellent little machine.0 -

check the Acer website for spec, but looking at the unit it has a LAN port on the side, so it should work ok with a standard ethernet wired connection.0 -
i bought one of these in PC World last week for £199! Gutted i missed out on this deal. I use it for typing lecture notes and surfing on the move. It's really speedy but did crash on me once and I left it hours before finally giving in and switching it off at the button.
I'm having problems connecting it to the university wireless network though because it has limited adjustable settings in the wireless settings area.
to connect to the uni's wireless network we aren't given the WAP code but our own user name and password but there is nowhere for me to type it in.
any ideas?0
