As others have said too, just copy the hardware files you need for the AA1 onto a USB stick and then run these, a re-boot may be necessay for some of them (from my recollection they are all executables, some may be zipped) .... when I upgraded to XP, the process of installing the additional/specific drivers took approx 10mins
  • Not sure if this has come up earlier in the thread, but has anyone noticed a clicking noise on their netbook? I bought one for OH and it was annoying him (also, keys were not writing correct symbols) so we exchanged it, but the same thing is happening on the second one!! I wonder if this is a thing with the 160 gig model, as my 120 one has never done this.
Anyone experienced the same thing or are we just unlucky?

The keyboard problem is that it is installed with an American keyboard setting. You can go into Control Panel then Regional and Languages to change the setting to UK ones.

Although, if I may...It didn't work with mine until I had completed the Live Update thing. That made the regional settings option appear, so I could change the keyboard settings. I was tearing my hair up before! lol
  • Spoken to Asda customer services and this item is showing out of stock in all branches except Belfast. Doesn't seem like they will get anymore in stock.

    Damn.

Congrats to everyone that managed to get one.

    I've been Money Tipped!
We have to use a dongle with our older laptop so having a wifi laptop/notebook like this is a bit of a novelty for me so I went and tried it out this morning.

I drove down to McDonalds which is about a mile away, parked up in their carpark and had a go at logging on.

I had to register with Cloud before it would let me open any other sites then it let me go online for 1 hour for free, (or I should say it would have let me for one hour, I only stayed there for a couple of minutes). I drove and parked in the Aldi carpark next door and I was still logged on.

We tend to lose our internet connection so at least my husband knows he can get online now should he need to log onto his fantasy football, betting sites.

Also, my mother in law no longer has internet access so he can drive to the nearest McDonalds or any other free hotspots in the area when he goes to visit.

apparently Maplins do an inverter cup - sits in your drinks holder and allows you to plug in the 240v plug and use it as normal off your cigarette lighter - saw it on another forum somewhere, I think they're about £25

I think Maplins may also do a universal laptop charger for a wee bit cheaper

There is a cheap one at amazon:-

    http://www.amazon.de/KFZ-Ladekabel-1-6-Ampere-Acer-Aspire/dp/B001EA0Y1K/ref=pd_sim_ce_2

    Only €10.38 ( about £9.36)

But I can't see it on the UK amazon site. They might delivery to the UK.
