I wasnt being harsh to the family at all I felt the wife needed some support and he kept saying i will go to work on the bins several times but never did:confused: as for internet access it is free at your local library as well as CAB and quite a few other debt charitys being free I do feel very sorry for them but the show portrayed him as a whinger who talked the talked and blamed others I like many others have taken advantage of the credit companys generosity but am now paying the price and like many others am doing my best and working at doing everything as a working family to pay my debts back It was my choice all the way along to take the money and I need to make it my choice to pay it back if I possibly can .
I do not think Bankruptcy is an easy option at all and feel very sorry for all those who have no other choice but to use this path

My point really was that people who cannot use a computer, whether access is free or not, will have a huge problem accessing the available resources. My brother is a debt advisor for the CAB. Currently completely snowed under with work he tells me and their funding has been cut. Desperate people sometimes have weeks to wait for an in depth interview. For a lot of people CAb is their first port of call.

If that poor woman had been computer literate then she could have got support from a place like this and then it wouldn't have mattered quite so much that her husband was an a**e.

There needs to be much more advertising on how to get debt help.

I haven't seen the programme as yet ........ reassure me that they put up some info about debt agencies and helplines at the end of the programme?

They give out the number for BBC Action Line - the same number you could call this if you saw something during Eastenders that upset you etc but no mention of the debt charities who are specialised to help
Money, money, money. Must be funny, in a rich man's world.

Have you phone the number to see what they say, they most likely will point people in the right direction for their individual situation.

There was a massive push to get everyone computer literate with free courses offered. If she chose not to participate what do you expect people to do.

I would have thought that a list of info lines would be given - to swamp one number is daft. Common sense dictates that more than one number or link would be advisable even if it is the CAB.

The family well they were another kettle of fish dad took no responsibility for their problems at all and wikept saying he would get a job on the bins but never seemed to go there to get a job.

Just watching it on I-player, and to be fair to the guy the wife said there was no point him working anyway, as they would lose money elsewhere so would be no better of.
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

    i doubt that very much

she was on the sick, he was a "trained mechanic", what would going to work lose him, his JSA?

he could take home £350 a week for the loss of some working tax credit so i get the impression he was a bit of a slacker
