I think this too - the BBC is biased - they were probably trying to scare the pants of people watching.

I'm not sure if 'biased' is the right word, but certainly the Beeb could have focused a bit more on the positives.
It's a bit like the 'Bailiffs' programme, where they continually put the narative of 'The lesson is simple - If you owe it - pay up'. Nothing was ever mentioned about whether the 'debt' was in fact genuine, or the horrendously inflated, and often illegal, charges that some bailiffs 'add' to very small debts, making them into huge amounts that the debtor is simply unable to pay.
There was, certainly, an element of 'scare tactics' in that case, and I certainly see where you are coming from, jg.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
