TV programme about debt & bankruptcy

Comments

  • Letters should have stopped and they would have eventually
The queues at the CAB where always LONG but no mention of phone or online help
Forms where long and stressful but no mention of online forms
Debt before BR should and could have been included but no mention when poor pensioner gets a £5k tax bill

It was a biased portrayal of what is an already hard and distressing process.

Thank goodness for MSE and I feel bad and sorry for the poor people who don't know the truth that have just been scared sh**less

Sorry for rambling but I feel upset now.

I'm sorry - I didn't mean to upset anyone with my comment. I guess I was looking at it from the perspective of it not being the easy ride some people think it is, I didn't consider how it might feel for people who are in that position. I'm sorry.

It was not you merry love it was the programme. There will be views for and against it. I think the show was far to short to go into bc with any true debth. It should have covered maybe 2 situations over a longer period and more in debth. Maybe like a fly on the wall thing

Showing someone answering the phone to a creditor, the postman calling ect ect. The true way we juggle for months before we take advice let alone do the deed. The real meaning behind bc,the OR and their powers. WHAT BC REALLY MEANS.

Gosh must get off my soap box. Sorry:o

On another point. What about the chap who said his plates where limited editions(ok maybe not worth much) and the helper said "i am not putting those down you have to have something to look at".

How many of us have sold things on ebay to put food on the bloody table or have spent months trying to get the fees together to go bc.

That just endorses what is already thought of bc:rolleyes:

I went a bit numb during the program to be honest and was shouting at the telly for then to come to this forum i really was and get great advice from us lot.

I was pleased it showed that just coming out the court with a piece of paper is not the end and that BR is not as easy option as us guys who have been through it know but at least it proves to some of the trolls how hard BR is on people.

I thought it was a moving bit of TV. and the thought that thousands of people up and down the land are in the same boat, should give food for thought. The one thing I thought was that no body had properly advised them on BR. The CAB confirmed my thoughts that they are over worked and badly prepared. Forums like this one are far more supportive.

   Why was the family repossessed if they had to go BR anyway? if the go BR with the kids and her work they could have kept the house right? Why didn't the mention that?

Plus the single mum what’s this about recouping funds from friends and family going back 2yrs why why why?

    Oh my head

CP, they had a secured loan that they couldn't afford, although they could afford the mortgage. The secured loan would not have been included in BR, it was the loan company who repossessed.

If they'd not have consolidated into a secured loan then yes, they could have gone BR and been left with just the mortgage they could afford. But hey, if we all had a crystal ball.

  • what a wonderful country we live in when a disabled OAP has to partially fund his own carer then gets a £5000 tax bill after going BR, and did anyone explain he could include it in his BR?

makes you proud to be british
  • I haven't seen the programme as yet ........ reassure me that they put up some info about debt agencies and helplines at the end of the programme?
