My civil service wage is the lowest wage I've had for years. And in my particular department/office, we're short staffed, and they're after trying to get rid off more staff - not very good customer service!
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.

How could they ever understand what it is like to have your home taken away from you, being in court due not being able to afford the rise in council tax etc.

becuse many members of staff in councils are there themselves!

Many civil servants have to claim working tax credits because their salaries are so low.
My concerns are not about the salaries of very junior or part time employees. It is about the very low productivity, the waste, the over manning, the pension terms and the extravagent salaries given to middle and senior management.
As a previous poster has pointed out, if civil servants are so well paid and have it so easy, why do those working in the private sector not apply to join the civil service
There are two issues here. Firstly, people with a strong work ethic often find work in public sector very frustrating. Secondly, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest that the better jobs are reserved for insiders or the friends and family of insiders.

There's around 50 jobs there out of two million.

That's one quarter of one percent of one percent.

I am sure you can find an overpaid .000025% of people in any type of employment. Bares absolutley no relevence to the vast, vast majority.

Look, if the poster understood logic, s/he might actually have a professional job instead of moaning at those who do. I suspect you are actually replying to that moron Dog from HPC.co.uk

What I said was that there is plenty anecdotal evidence and you cannot actually argue with that. The anecdotal evidence is everywhere you look. 18 months ago Hampshire Council advertised for 12 positions at over £80k each in one week. Do we honestly believe those jobs were on offer to outsiders? Harrow, Swindon and a number of other Councils did the same thing around the same time.

We all know people who have landed cushy jobs in their local council and it just so happens that they have a friend or relative on the council. You may be right and it is just a coincidence but it does seem to be common.

Full marks, I am indeed one and the same.

In relation to the manner of responses I would describe you as an 'abusive servant' rather than a 'civil servant'.

So a council advertising for jobs is evidence of insiderdom...okaaaay. I was referring to the civil service, which is if you knew your stuff you would know does not comprise local councils.

As for giving offence, I am with the late John Mortimer on that one.
