    Hi Kneale,

I have upgraded my account in branch a week ago, I currently have a full current account with £50 Cheque Guarantee card. Does this mean that I will automatically get the Black Premier Card?? My existing blue connect card doesn't expire until 2011.. will they send the new black card straight away?

How long do the cards normally take to arrive? I have already recieved my Welcome Pack.

And one other question... the letter I got in branch at the time of upgrading (basically confirming the upgrade etc) it says:

"Product Holding .. Premier Life - OD (NO PRT)"

Can you please advise what this means???

    Thanks for your help

    Hi

"Product Holding .. Premier Life - OD (NO PRT)" means you have a Premier Life account with an overdraft and you have no payment protection on the overdraft.

I would ring Premier Telephone Banking on 0800 111 777 to make sure that a black Premier debit card has been ordered for you. The process for ordering the new card changed last month from back-office to front-line staff and some are forgetting to order new cards. Cards normally take 5-7 working days, unless you live in a high-risk postcode (ie London) when they can take a bit longer as they are either sent out by courier or disguised mail.

Even though Platinum has been withdrawn, existing account holders still have the benefits unless they change to one of the new accounts, ie Current Account Plus, Additions Active, or Premier Life.

Thanks, we shall keep the Platinum account active and use the other one for the Premier Life.

    Hi Kneale,

Thanks for your reply, very much appreciated.

I phoned Premier Banking and there was no card ordered!!!! Typical! So they have put one on order for me. She said that if a blue one arrives I need to ring again and they will try again!!! I just hope the correct one turns up!!

    Many thanks

  • Hi,

I posted this in another thread, but hopefully someone will answer here.:hello:

    Hi

Does anyone know what the difference is between Barclays Premier Life and the old Barclays Premier account. I've had Barclays Premier for around 12 years or so and always paid £10 per month.

Apart from when I've threatened to withdraw from Premier banking and they've given me some credit, I've never had any other real benefits. Sure, there is an overdraft facility, will service and personal banker who usually phones up once a year in an attempt to sell me something. I think there may also be a token life insurance policy too, but that's about it.

I don't recall anyone trying to convince me to change my account to Premier Life, but I also don't see the account I have listed any more, certainly not for a £10 fee.

If anyone can let me know if it's worth upgrading or what the differences are between the legacy Premier account and the new improved one, I would appreciate it.

By the way there seems to be a lot of kudos being afforded to the so called black card? I have a matt black card issued over a year ago with a £250 cheque limit. It has Barclays written in blue and the words Premier and Connect written in kind of a green colour. Is this the same thing you're all referring to?

Anyway some info about old versus new would be useful. I also wonder why Barclays didn't bother to tell me

The Premier account you have is no longer available to new customers. For the £10 a month you are getting the first £1000 of your overdraft interest free and the remainder at 14.9% and access to your Premier Relationship Manager and Premier Telephone Banking team, along with the black Premier card.

Premier Life has the above, first £1000 of overdraft interest free but remainder is 9.9% - also has lots of other features such as RAC, travel insurance, phone and gadget insurance, etc. There's more information on the account here: http://www.barclays.co.uk/premier/premium-financial-services/ - the account is £25 or £17.50 if you qualify. To qualify for the lower amount you must earn over £100,000 (£60,000 if under 35) and have your salary paid into your Barclays account or have £50,000 saved/invested with Barclays.

I'm surprised no-one has told you though! Do you ring Barclays often?
  • Hi...sorry to threadjack!!

I was just wondering whether anybody knows if the Black Premier Life card is a credit scored product? I have a Premier Life account, and the Premier chequebook but have never received a black card. My existing connect card does not have a chq gty facility so I didn't know whether this was the reason?

    Cheers,

If you used to have the blue Connect card without the cheque guarantee facility then you need to actually apply for the new Premier debit card (ie go through a sales application rather than just re-issuing). Ring Premier Banking (0800 111 777) and ask if you have the limits for it.

A subjective comment if ever I saw one!
