Unfortunately they credit score the application for premier life cards. I have yet to meet anyone rich enough to be given the black card with the £250 cheque card as advertised.

They have all been blue or black cards with £100 guarantee limits. A small point I know as not many companies accept guaranteed cheques, but they advertise it as a perk of the account, there is no mention of the card type you receive is subject to status for this account type on their website last time I looked.
  • If you upgrade to Premier Life, which card you get depends on what you've already got.

If you already have a blue Connect card with cheque guarantee limit then you will get a black Premier debit card - the old card will be noted down as being damaged and the new one ordered. The PIN will remain the same.

If you have no debit card, a cash card, or a blue Connect card with no cheque guarantee limit then you will have to do a sales application for the Premier card, which will be credit scored. You may still end up with the blue Connect card with no cheque guarantee limit.

They take joint incomes into account if it is a joint acccount when deciding if you qualify for the 17.50 rather than 25 fee.

That is actually incorrect, even on a joint account one party must qualify, ie earn over £100,000/year.

Just a quick question guys, can people with the basic cash card account with a visa electron card too can have the premier bank account with the £25 fee but with their electron card ? Or is it an absolute must to have a full current account to get the premier life ? The reason y am asking this question is because of the mention of cash card !!
Also does running a cash card account execellently with barlclays help in upgrading to a full current account in the future or it all depends on the external credit score no matter what (some what like natwest).
    Thanks

Platinum Banking is a withdrawn product.

The £17.50 price is for qualifying Premier clients. If you have £100,000 cash (£60,000 if you're under 35 or have a Business relationship with Barclays) or you have £50,000 to save or invest, you get it for the reduced price.

The platinum still seems to be active for existing customers.

Still would like to know can the savings be the £50k+ in the offset mortgage savings accounts?

We have the active account but the extra £3.50pm would get us some exta benifits that we would probably use.

If the £50,000 is in a savings account you should qualify. Ring Telephone Banking and get someone to confirm. As the Additions Active account is going up to £15/month from 1 September it's then only £2.50/month more!

Can easy put £50k in a savings account just withdraw the money from the mortgage account(offset so net cost zero)

Just got the letter with the add HomeSOS but charging a £1pm extra

The 6 airport lounge accesses we would use so they are worth the £30py extra on theri own.

    Hi Kneale,

I have upgraded my account in branch a week ago, I currently have a full current account with £50 Cheque Guarantee card. Does this mean that I will automatically get the Black Premier Card?? My existing blue connect card doesn't expire until 2011.. will they send the new black card straight away?

How long do the cards normally take to arrive? I have already recieved my Welcome Pack.

And one other question... the letter I got in branch at the time of upgrading (basically confirming the upgrade etc) it says:

"Product Holding .. Premier Life - OD (NO PRT)"

Can you please advise what this means???

    Thanks for your help

Even though Platinum has been withdrawn, existing account holders still have the benefits unless they change to one of the new accounts, ie Current Account Plus, Additions Active, or Premier Life.
