Barclays Premier Life ?? is it worth it and the Will Writing Service

Hi

I have just been offered the Barclays Premier Life for a reduced amount, is it worth it ??

I am thinking about using the will writing service for the creation of a will for to cover the family.. is it worth using or not ???

Thanks

    What reduced amount?

And to answer - as with all "package" current accounts, only you can decide if it's worth it. You need to evaluate what's offered, whether you'd use it, and whether you might save money by doing so. There's no point in taking it if you wouldn't use half the things given with the account.

As for the will writing - it's not a "full" will writing service. It's relatively simple, and not suitable if you have a complex estate etc.

they have given it to me for 17.50 per month.

On another point, it comes with Domestic Emergency cover. Is it worth scrapping my BG Boiler cover and just having this.. I now I will need an annual service ?

I am trying to justify having this account.. still trying to work out if its worth it.

Also the Will writing, is it OK for producing a family will (e.g. give it all to the kids)
  • One thing, which I am not sure about, but I seem to recall reading somewhere, is that if you use the will writting service, Barcalys charge and amount to your estate on death. I might be wrong, but I would suggest calling a local solicitor to find out how much they charge, as I had mirror wills for my wife and I written for £60.

I do have a package account with lloyds and one thing i find useful is the domestic emergency cover cos it's more cost effective. However you are correct in saying you still need to arrange yearly service for your boiler as the emergency cover doesnt include service

The only time Barclays levies such a charge is when you appoint us as the executor of your will. Simply using the will writing service incurs no additional charge at the time of death, and is covered by the cost of your monthly account fee.

  • I wish Barclays would let me have this account for £17.50 a month!!!

I've have looked at Additions Active and it doesn't have everything I particularly want, but if they were to offer me the Premier account for £17.50 a month I'd take it straight away as it has benefits which I'd definitely want and use.

The £17.50 price is for qualifying Premier clients. If you have £100,000 cash (£60,000 if you're under 35 or have a Business relationship with Barclays) or you have £50,000 to save or invest, you get it for the reduced price.

    Shame I don't meet those requirements :p
