Gosh Blue, that's a really rubbish situation with the venue. They should have told you themselves. I hope you get the money back. Had you sent out invites yet? I'd be fuming if it happened to me. Hold on whilst I touch some wood lol. Seriously I hope you get it all sorted and that the new venue isnt too small.

Well, I went for my hair trial yesterday. Found a local salon that is available, specialises in extensions, and does home visits. But my goodness, do I need to barter on the price! I went with one BM yesterday to have a trial for me and BM. We went in completely blind - no idea what we wanted - didn't even take tiara, veil or any accessories whatsoever lol. Anyway, my hair was curled and pinned back with it all cascading down the back - lurvvvely. BM however, had it half up, half down with a quiff at the front and the back shaped into a bow :rotfl: Oh we had to laugh when we came out. It would have been ok if she was aged 10, but she's 26 :rotfl:. Don't really know why I'm laughing because it cost £70 for the 2 of us . Oh well, at least we know now what we dont' want :) Plus my hair is still super curly now which is nice - because I can never curl my hair. I'm thinking now that I'm going to have my hair down and curly (with extensions as my hair is pretty limp and pathetic). But I need to make my mind up because these trials are going to make me bankrupt!

Also, I ordered the BM dresses from BHS on Thursday night...and they arrived Saturday lunchtime :T. And I must say the quality is absolutely fabulous. I did try one on (even tho it was a size too small and therefore quite tight) and I love them. I just need to get round 5 BMs this week to make sure they fit.

Hope everyones plans are coming along nicely !

PS Smlsave - what do you mean by vouchers?? Are they the same as invites?

How did the shopping go faye? I saw MIL's wedding outfit yesterday :confused:I don't like it  It's grey and dull - am I putting too much empathis on it?

:rotfl:Oops!! That's why I went with them both. I am really realy pleased with what they got to be honest. The colours are bright, light and summery. :T
We done our invites too and I think they look great. Will get a pic on as soon as I can  I have to say it's a real load off my mind now they are done - just need to be sent now. :T

I've got my hair trial in four weeks, I'd better start saving! Had no idea they could be so much.

I'm so glad you've got the BM dresses and that you like them :T I hope they all fit the BM's.

My invites have finally been 'polished' and we are going to print one tonight to see how the quality is. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

With my evening invites I'm sending out drink vouchers for the guests. Just one drink, mind you ;) I can't seem to get a picture to show:

Bit narked at our venue, they are a hotel/restaurant, they have an ad in the local paper for a set menu at £11, our menu is actually very similar and we are paying £24, just cos they put the "W" word on it !!!
I know there is a bit more involved in catering for a wedding but:mad: . To top it all special offer if 2 people have a set menu they get a free bottle of wine!! NOT FAIR. Or am I being silly.
Ok, well I finally got round to contacting the venue, they are happy for us to pick from the set menu . But we would have to go into the restaurant for the meal then back into the reception room for the rest of the party:confused: sorry but !!!!!!??? Surely that will just make things more complicated for them too.
Really not sure how I feel about this, but it would be a saving of almost £300. Hmmmm !!!

Do you like the restaurant Violetta? I'd be seriously tempted to take this deal with a saving of £300.

Well, it didn't go well :o( our printer broke. Then the printer we borrowed has poor colour recognition nad poor resolution....so I admit I've been sulking and in a bad mood....but work has come to my rescue and fingers crossed they will be printed soon....

violetta, will they sit you all together in the one area? if so i would save the money, you may find they don't move you in the end. would you mind the other diners being there? i'm sure your guests wouldn't mind moving.

    Hi All,

Hope everything is going well. We had our meeting with the vicar this week and were there nearly 2 hours  I thought we'd only be there for about 30 min lol. All went well we're happy :j

I seriously need to sit down and look at the budget. The plan was that H2B was paying 3/4 of the cost of the wedding, his mum and dad paying the other 1/4 and me paying for the honeymoon. I've not paid as much off for the honeymoon as I'd hoped I would by now and it needs to be paid by June. I've worked out what I can get to pay for it from my next 3 paychecks but it leaves me £1k short  I hope, I can claw this from the budget cos I really dont want to pay it with my cc - H2B would not be happy :(. I really dont want to let him down as he has worked sooooooo hard to save for the wedding and is down to his last £600 to save. I'm so lucky to have such a great guy - I just wish I could have stuck to my side of the bargain.

    Poo cakes :(

I spoke to a friend last night her daughter got married at the venue then had her meal in the restaurant apparently it was lovely & they even did a proper top table for the bridal party & everyone was sat together, but they then went off & held the reception elsewhere so I'm still undecided I just think it would spoil the flow of the wedding iyswim, and it's bad enough being the centre of attention at the wedding never mind in the restaurant open to the general public. I know most people will be lovely but I am quite shy. I also wanted to get the speeches over & done with before the meal.
Sammy-girl I'm sorry your struggling with the budget, wish I could offer some advice. We aren't having a honeymoon maybe have a nice holiday next year. Hope you get something sorted, I know what you mean about credit card, we are using mine but paying it all off each month so no debt,. Noticed today in the shops they were really pushing the store cards, yeah that's a great idea with the current economic climate:mad:

Sammy_Girl and Violetta - I am sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing. Wish I knew what to say for the money issues that would help, I am sure you are doing everything you possibly can to get the cash you need, SG. And V - what your venue has done sounds pretty shifty. But as Chardonnay said, they probably wont move you. With any luck, there wont be any room in the restaurant as it will be too booked up - they are not going to want to lose out on space - if the offer is that good, then surely loads of people go and they wont want to lose that. They are probably counting on you saying no and paying the extra money. Maybe they could meet you halfway, give you £150 off and you can stay where you are? I am sure you have already thought of that though and everything will be fine in the end.

I have now finished the invitations and started posting them to people that dont live in London (I have been hand delivering to people I see - dont see the point in posting to someone I see all the time!!) We designed them ourselves and I made them with some help of good friends - its been great to see peoples reactions to them!!

Also decided for the girls favours to handmake necklaces, bought some jasper angels, pear opelite and rose quartz pendants and some turquoise necklace thread from ebay - works out at 50p per necklace! I know it would be cheaper to do chocolates but there will be loads of food going round so wanted something nice for people to take away. Now I just have to decide what to get for the men. My fall back plan is mini lovehearts as I can get 100 for £8 so 2 each, but would prefer it to be something else and H2B doesnt like the idea but we both know the men wont really care. Would love to give them a minature jack daniels or cufflinks or something but that might work out too expensive. For now though, I am happy to have ordered the necklaces and that will keep me occupied for a bit:T

Also started thinking about the table placenames. My friend who designed the insides of the invites will do some funky table placename pictures with London landmarks for me and I will make the name places - 100 plain placecards and some shiny sunflower stickers will be less than £10. I have found a lovely flower arrangement that I like but they are £13 each so 9 tables will be quite pricey but still plenty of time to decide
