Ive just posted to see if anyone else has used them so we can see what experience people have had. Good thing is OH is going for a tungsten carbide (which is better for his work) one and found perfect one for £50 so I can have slightly more for mine :o)
  • I was chuffed today when we got OH's for half of what we were going to spend, more for mine:j but I am having the shank of my engagement ring changed from yellow gold to either platinum or palladium depending on price and the diamond reset to be squared so the costs of that is coming out of the ring fund!!

Have you had a quote for that yet? Everytime I go into our budget I bump up the ring fund  Its over by £170 now which isnt nearly as bad as I thought. As much as I like the 2nd one I love the 1st one so going to go for that. might just tell the OH he can have a hula hoop for his wedding ring. lol. Is that bad?

That's a gorgeous dress Nic. What colour are you going for?

I've been having a right drama with my rings. My engagement ring is yellow gold with trilogy diamonds. I have been given 4 departed relatives (2 nans and 2 aunties) wedding rings which are all the same carat yellow gold (22ct I think  ). Anyway, I want to get them melted down to make one ring for me and add some small diamonds. I went to Hatton Street in London and spoke to about 6 jewellers and came away even more confused. Basically, some said that they would do it, but then how would I know that they've used my gold as I wouldn't be there to see the process  Anyway, then I came across this place:

    http://www.weddingringworkshop.co.uk/

Basically, we make our own rings and can bring our own gold. But the price for the two of us including rings is £850  And that's not including the diamonds to add. I do think that this is quite pricey, but I guess it will give me the piece of mind that I have my relatives' gold. I think I might try and haggle, after all, I am using my own gold and not theirs, so surely that might save me a couple of hundred £.

Why is everything so complicated?????? :D

I know what you mean Sammy, I didnt think the rings would be the hardest thing so far. Its always worth trying to negotiate with them. You never know if you dont ask. It will be so nice to know the gold has come from your relatives rings aswell, Will make a lovely heirloom for you pass down as well
  • Oooo thats different, to always wear it knowing you made your wedding rings together thats very sweet, like you say you should get a bit knocked off price as you have your own gold how exiting though bet you can't wait.

I want an ivory dress but it does not come in ivory but if I try it on and love it will just get white, tomorrow I will be posting a dress that looks nothing like that knowing me though:rotfl:

I know Val, you'd think the rings are pretty straightforward lol

Nic, it's always best to go in the shop with an open mind. I knew I wanted a corset and full skirt to show off my waist and hide my big bum and hips lol - so we chose dresses like that - some were awful but I ended up with 2 that I couldn't decide. And remember to haggle, haggle, haggle!!! I got the 2 dresses I like down to the same price - £600. But that made it even harder to choose lol. But I'm glad I chose my dress - I love it!!!

Mine's ivory - I'm quite pale so white just didn't look right next to me. But I think I'll still have a nice St Tropez done anyway lol

Oh and wear half decent underwear! I didn't even think of that and ended up going in big pants and a black bra lol
