Ok, at risk of turning into a complete Bridezilla, I've checked my wedding bible and at the moment for an August wedding we should have already done the following:
    • Chosen Best Man, Chief BM, BMs and Ushers
    • Confirm the budget
    • Set the date and book ceremony
    • Book reception venue
    • Select wedding gown and book fittings

    • Take out wedding insurance
    • Compile guest list
    • Send Save the Date cards

    • Confirm florist
    • Confirm photographer
    • Confirm videographer
    • Confirm transport

    • Confirm cake maker
    • Book entertainment (band, DJ etc)

    • Reserve grooms and groomsmen suits
    • Purchase BM outfits

    • Book wedding night accommodation
    • Book honeymoon

    • Register with Gift List service

And this is what we should be in the process of doing now and have done by May:
    • Check passports are up to date

    • Decide menu and choose wine

    • Choose cake

    • Choose flowers
    • Purchase shoes and accessories

    • Book hairdresser and make up artist
    • Book toastmaster

    • Compile gift list
    • Source wedding stationery

    • Choose readings and music

    • Purchase wedding rings
    • Book ceremony rehearsal
    • Purchase gifts (Best Man, BM, Ushers, Mothers)

Everything in red is what I haven't done

One smiley to say......

So how are you ladies faring against our timeline

    This is actually quite helpful
    • Chosen Best Man, Chief BM, BMs and Ushers
    • Confirm the budget
    • Set the date and book ceremony
    • Book reception venue
    • Select wedding gown and book fittings

    • Take out wedding insurance
    • Compile guest list - Done and Invitations sent out
    • Send Save the Date cards - not bothering already done invitations

    • Confirm florist
    • Confirm photographer
    • Confirm videographer - not bothering
    • Confirm transport

    • Confirm cake maker Just getting one from Marks and Spencers so dont need to book too soon in advance
    • Book entertainment (band, DJ etc)

    • Reserve grooms and groomsmen suits
    • Purchase BM outfits

    • Book wedding night accommodation Went to do this yesterday but the room we wanted is booked so looking elsewhere
    • Book honeymoon - not bothering just yet as we only bought our 1st house 6months ago

    • Register with Gift List service again not going to bother with as we have everything

And this is what we should be in the process of doing now and have done by May:
    • Check passports are up to date not needed

    • Decide menu and choose wine meeting with caterer tomorrow (already picked the dessert - trio of chocolate mousses with baileys cream and butterscotch sauce. Told OH he can pick starter and main course as long as I get the dessert)

    • Choose cake picked already just plain white 3 tier sponge

    • Choose flowers picked already and in process of being made (silk)
    • Purchase shoes and accessories

    • Book hairdresser and make up artist booked and trial booked in
    • Book toastmaster - think venue provides one but if not, not going to bother

    • Compile gift list not bothering
    • Source wedding stationery - making my self

    • Choose readings and music no readings and all music pciked

    • Purchase wedding rings
    • Book ceremony rehearsal
    • Purchase gifts (Best Man, BM, Ushers, Mothers)

Val, you are doing very well - I'm impressed. I've been engaged for a year now - so I should be doing better lol. I think I am going to do one thing at a time rather than a thousand things at once!

I've been doing wedding stuff since I got in from work so I think I'll head off to bed now.

    Good night all x

Hi bluemeanie, sorry I didn't mean to panic anyone!! At least its a kind of prompt in the right direction!

Sorry can't help with the online webcams. Do you have any techie family or friends who could help? Does the venue have a broadband link that you could use? I guess you could try googling companies that do video conferencing - is that the same thing??
  • hi all,

Can i join the club please....?? :)

OH and I are getting married, in august - tentative date is 8th Aug, but will have to wait until we get the church and reception venue confirmed.

I have not started planning per se (only viewed one church and 2 venues)....and i feel that the pressure is on to decide soon....

How's the planning going all :)

I feel like I've been quite productive today. I have:
    • Booked first dress fitting for Easter Saturday :)
    • Sent off booking form for cake and paid deposit
    • Reserved guest accommodation at 2 local hotels
    • Enquired about hair extensions, so my hair sits nicer
    • Enquired about groomsmen outfits and costs
    • Registered with John Lewis for Gift List
I really need to get the flowers sorted - is anyone else having silk or foam flowers? Do you recommend anyone? I can't decide whether to go for this option or real flowers. I only really want bouquets, buttonholes, corsages, and top table flowers

Just poking my nose in, ladies, and saw that you were talking about wedding rings.

I bought mine from http://www.thejewellerychannel.tv/ about a year ago - it was £279 for a 0.5 carat princess cut diamond and white gold (Iliana range). It's worth having a look at their stuff - I've bought loads of items from them over the last year or so, including 0.5 carat diamond earrings and a pendant for my wedding too and I've been chuffed with virtually everything.

    HTH someone
