I have asked the main team to take another look at this thread as I fear we may be moving completely away from the remit of this board. I know we have some leeway here as a discussion thread but we should remember that this is what Martin actually said when he opened this board (my red highlighting0
Hi folks
There's been a lot of requests for the new boards, so I hope it becomes popular.
The aims to be a central location for all the specific MoneySaving issues impacting those with disabilities.
Best of luck to all who sail in her.

hi everyone , just going to make a point here , i dont use this thread for-by one post , but do read often
but if this is gonna be stopped because it aint money saving , then are others too
like , money savers arms ,
jokes , caption competitions , do you watch big brother , would you stay in a sexless marraige , but to name a few of the hundreds on their
"ARENT" money saving either
again it looks like people being uncomfortable with depression and the negativity of the illness
discrimination comes to mind ,
would you concider closing a "im a wheel chair thread" because they desribe , the trouble with their body , spine ,legs , challenges they face etc etc
that would be concidered disgusting
not meant to offend anyone ,have 2 friend married to each other both wheelchair users , im just using that as an example of the way this is looking to me
just my 2 cents
im sure the MSE forum would not want that label
or is it a case of no-one else can be discriminitory except for us
signing off totaly disgusted , and im sure im not the only one0 -
i totally agree with the post above
when i really needed help, my post was removed. luckiy i could pm a few people who i knew would give me some words of advice
messed up- in a wierd way im coming round to the proposed diagnosis, i just want to know whats wrong with me so they can treat it
sandy- thats a shame that people havent asked 'why?' thats probably the most important thing to say to someone after that
lw- i needed those words!
to everyone thanks very much, im still feeling awful but im starting to feel good that im alive0 -

b4ba, I totaly agree with you and the arms isn't the only place that there are loads of threads that are nothing to do with moneysaving.
This is the only place I get any proper support, I don't know what I would do without it.
CG Glad things are improving and you are getting your esa sorted. xSealed Pot Challenge Member NO. 853 :j0 -
no problem girls ,just calling it like i see it , and our favourite family therapist who thank'd that post , half their recent post are on the subject of religion , not particularly money saving , kettle , black and pot is all ill say
anyway , had an awful night , unfortunitly the world won that one , but at least i had a good cry and faced some issues , but the gloves are well and truely back on today0 -
I too just wanted to say it's awful this thread is coming under fire. What about all the diaries and daily chat threads elsewhere? How is this any different - other than for being depressed? For many people this is the only place they can come and say 'I feel crap today' and have everyone understand why.
Does every post need to be: "Wow, being disabled costs a fortune?" We all know that. One thing that could be useful is discussion of medication e.g. how to get the cheapest - but that's not allowed. What more can be said?
Hope the main teams leaves things well alone."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
bums ive just thanked that flippin post0

I've got a bit of insight into this debate, being a longterm member of the Depression Thread on the Health Board. Unfortunately, when talking about illnesses, it is really easy to stray into talking about medications, treatments and giving what can be taken as moneysaving.
I thought it might be heplful to post a couple of links to posts made about the Depression Thread:

If this thread is to remain, it has to be as easy to police as possible, and as 'safe' as possible. It isn't about discrimination, it is about protecting MSE.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
I think this thread IS MSE! It seems many people post here for supportive reasons, either to offer support or to get things off thier chests. I've read so many posts saying they're feeling a bit better after coming on here. In short, this thread is therapeutic. And this therapy is available for FREE! It is also available instantly, which as we all know, is soooo important. It is an alternative to seeing a crisis team or phoning a helpline. So in effect, money is being saved. Not just an individuals money but also public and charity money too. And more importantly, it seems this thread also goes some way towards saving sanity.
Luckily, I'm really well at the moment but when I discovered this thread yesterday, it felt good to know that there is a supportive environment available to me if I needed it. Long may it continue!0
