I am having a bad week.

My friend's mum died on christmas day.

My partner was robbed at work today.

He also has a strange lump inside his mouth.

We went to casualty tonight but the doctor doesn't know what it could be, so he will probably go to his own doctor tomorrow.

My current work contract also comes to an end this Saturday, hopefully they will keep me on.

I do hope next week is better

Aww Steve - sorry you feel that way. Itsnot all doom and gloom over here. I find it helps to be able to talk about my mum and brother online becuase it does make the people around me uncomfortable and sad. Also I'm a very practical , busy person (Lupus permitting) so everyone assumes I can cope. Sometimes I need a bit of reassurance.
I'm off volunteering this morning - lovely lady(high functioning Aspergers) who has just bought her own house. I love working with her and am so happy for her. Then tonight My youngest has her friend over for a night of Wii. Eldest is driving middle child to a Ball. I'm getting used to DS1 driving now!! Its hard not to worry though!
So sorry dlm - hope OH is okay x

CG - There is a website called Works and benefits which I'm going to track down later - apparently its the bees when filling out forms and for benefit advice.

To every one else - best wishes for the New year

    JH x

Not feeling so bad today, not sure what happened last night was just one of those days I suppose

CG Don't worry I'm sure it's nothing you said, people deal with things in different ways and this thread wasn't for Steve.

    Blackpaw Any chocolate left?

razorbladekisses no reason, I'm just a grumpy cow at the moment :o

dlm Hope your OH (and you) are ok, you really are having a bad run.

jennihen Have a good day and enjoy your volunteering. A Wii night, bet that will be noisy, Good luck :D

shazrobo Sorry christmas has been bad. My son has been a nightmare, he isn't good with changes in routine. Hope things improve soon.

    Hello all.

Y'know, I'm hoping fervently that 2010 is a heck of a lot better for all of us than 2009 has been.

Maybe our Black Dogs will lie down and behave themselves.:o

I'm deliberately not mentioning names today; I have bad brain-fog, and I just know I'd forget someone and cause upset, so best I offer ALL Black Dog owners a Wolfy (((HUG))) and my very best wishes.

I was speaking with a chap in the pub last night; he's suggested that when the weather is better I might like another ride on his motorbike. So now I have to really work at getting my hands strong enough for this (couldn't hang on safely at the mo). I have a GP appointment on Jan 27th for my 6-monthly meds review, am sort of toying with the idea of asking her if there's anything I can do to strengthen the ol' paws, but fear she'll refer me to a physio-terrorist. (This is totally not do-able; for starters, Mr LW can't keep taking time off to take me to appointments).

I currently use a squeezy "pint of beer" stress toy http://shop.camra.org.uk/DisplayDetail.aspx?prodid=170&secid=20 to try to strengthen my paws, but at present they're so weak that I can't actually lift a real pint of beer.:(

I know I ought to be able to work something out for myself, unfortunately my poor ol' brain is so muzzy just now..... so if anyone's got any ideas, please share.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Hi Wolfy love, I knit and crochet almost constantly to keep my paws mobile and I have a cable-grip thing that I was given many years ago by a mate who worked for BT. You squeeze the handles together (they are separated by a spring). I can't use this at present - but I've been thinking of looking at those power ball thingies :o.

Love and hugs to everyone - gotta dash cos the espresso machine has broken  and it's the only way DS keeps awake to revise :D.

Happy New Year to you all, if I don't get back before and thanks to everyone for the support re my doc's appt and for DD1. I will be back to update on the situation later.

  • I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now. Thought it was time I came in from the cold and say "hi".
My christmas was ok apart from receiving a letter on christmas eve of all days, about my dla renewal saying my care part was being lowered. Do they send them out on purpose then, just to make you worry over christmas? Do they hope that by the time you have found the strength to think about appealing you only have a couple of weeks left in which to do it? The dla people are not good for my mental health!
Anyway, hello to everybody, hope you don't mind my company.
