Black Dog of Depression - can we help each other?

this is just how i feel dont want to be here but dont want to die i feel like a nothing in a big pond
If we were all nothing the pond wouldnt be there at all let alone bigLadyM I think a lot of doctors are doing this now - I think it's a ploy not to give us anything to treat the physical problems - a way of saving money. Just my theory. Keep at 'em til you get some satisfaction - 2nd opinion if needs be.
just in case I get jumped on with a load of crap about low seratonin levels please think about why boosting seratonin doesnt seem to sort the problem out.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -

I think it is more a realisation from various meta studies that sugar coated pils ( placebos) work with virtually the same results. There may also be a realisation that the problem is psychological not chemical.

Sorry absolutebounder but the placebo theory is rubbish. I don't care what research you quote.
You are extremely rude and I don't understand why you are posting here apart from to try to talk down to people with depression and possibly wind them up.
Antidepressant use over a long period of time is complex, apart from the fact that many people have to try many different types before finding one that does the job.
Some depression is indeed resistant to drug treatment, but for you to start spouting off with your theories in such a provocative way seems not to be informed by any real experience, whereas the people on this thread actually do have deep personal experience from which to speak, and a lot more intelligence than you project them to have.

So you only believe what suits you. The placebo gets results FACT

What is rude about pointing out that docs are realising they are sometimes wasting their time with drugs?

What does that tell you?

I get people back to work or good health but mainly the former

I just think that some NHS docs are finaly catching on about the way to treat depression without drugs. I wouldnt work for the NHS because all depression is resistant to treatment if you want it to be. My clients want to get better and return to work. They do.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
Hi Absolutebounder,
I am interested in what you have to say because I think I have been either wrongly diagnosed with depression or the real reasons as to why I'm 'depressed' are being overlooked.
You talk about clients - what service are you providing?

Ok, so now you are implying that people who have long-term problems with depression are malingerers.
You were extremely rude in your post, talking about getting jumped on with 'a load of crap about serotonin levels'.
I am not going to enter into any debate with you, I've said my piece, I have no faith in you, your knowledge on the subject of depression, or any 'cure', no doubt for money, that you claim to provide."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

Im a hypnotherapist and NLP specialist. I treat depresion by changing the way people think about things or showing people how to live with the cause.Ok, so now you are implying that people who have long-term problems with depression are malingerers.
What is your profession?
I havent implied that at all and you can try all the slurs you like. I have however often been critical of the NHS who try and get people out of the door as fast as possible. repeat non working prescription sir?
If you know so much about it why do you suffer from it? Yet I who according to you know nothing dont?Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -

No doubt you think M.E. is malingering too and can be cured with NLP and CBT."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

What an ignorant, idiotic thing to say. And insulting to so many people.
I would definitely place no trust in you for any kind of 'therapy' going by your attitudes.
This is actually a support thread for people with depression.
You seem to think you have some kind of intelligence that we don't which isn't very helpful really is it?
Do you not think that we have our own minds and knowledge of different theories and treatments. Oh and of course our own experience, which you seem to be doing your darndest to invalidate. Big basic no no for any therapist I would have thought?
There really is no point in me talking to you any further so please do not try to get me to. I wish you would just stop posting here because you definitely did not start off on the right foot. Why don't you open another thread with your theory and therapy suggestions?
I am now going to use the ignore button for the very first time for the sake of my own mental health."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

what is NLP?
It's neuro-linguistic programming jennihen. Programming your brain/thoughts with verbal suggestions or commands, thus influencing your state of mind."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
