First of all thankfuly your baby is alright, you were definitely not to blame. Please talk to Trading Standards they are the experts.Your baby is alright now.The next baby might get injured.Have you still got the instruction booklet or leaflet for the Mothercare baby swing as Trading Standards go by this(the wording of it is crucial). As long as you have followed the instructions correctly you will be alright, they'll probably ask you this question. If not don't worry, they can obtain a copy. Also give them the product code(Product code: F2736-001) If it's possible can you go and see an officer at your local trading standards dept.at your town hall.In the past I have found this better than telephoning.Either way ask them for a reference no.and when will they get back to you. They will then contact Mothercare themselves.Give them about a month and Trading Standards will then send you a letter or phone call telling you how to claim your money back from Mothercare. If no reply after approx.one month ring Trading Standards with your reference no.and they will contact you.By the way the last time I was at their dept.the first question they asked was did I take any photographs.(Rushes home to take some).
Also if anyone does get injured Trading Standards do not deal with compensation, only refunds.

Sorry for not posting an update, after 5 emails I have had a reply to one sying they will be in touch asap, and three phone calls, they keep promising to return my call and never do, I spoke to someone last Thursday who was ringing me back in 1 hour(not rung yet) they recieved the chair but think they ave now lost it as i asked for it back to give to trading standards!
  • i would give trading standards a call and let them know mothercare are being difficult in providing an answer. also could try calling mothercare every single day, twice a day if you feel up to it and see if that gives a result.

    good luck

  • You need to tell motercare that you are involving trading standards too, that usually gets companies to buck their ideas up
  • Any news Kazza?

If Mothercare don't get intouch I would also be involving the daily mail too they would have a field day with this!

    Good luck

    Hi everyone,

They rang me today, the chair has been inspected and the findings are as it has a crotch strap it "should" have secured my baby!!

They have refunded me for it and are sending me something as a gesture of good will, she didnt say what or ask if I needed anything.

I dont know that Im happy with that, as its not going to stop it happening to someonelses baby, and god forbid it could be worse next time.

What kind of an answer is that- i take it they have put nothing in writing?
  • Awww Kaz thats awful. I am glad baby is ok.

I had the Fisher Price rainforest one with a head hugger and my baby was ok in that one but looking at the Mothercare one can see how it happened.

Good luck and keep us posted.
