Baby Injured

It doesn't really matter if it was for 2 minutes or 2 seconds, if you make a serious complaint about the product they will want to know the exact circumstances that lead to the injury & the fact is when you say that you left the baby unattended for a couple of minutes to go to the kitchen they will use that in thier defence.
Unless the product states "do not leave baby unattended" or similar then I don't think that you can say this. If a cot mobile fell on a babies head during the night because of a design flaw in the clamp would you say the same thing? Or are you not supposed to leave a baby unattended in his/her cot at night?Fair enough report your concerns about the product, but i think you need to think carefully about how far you are prepared to take the matter with the manufacturer because unfortunately they can easily say that there are added circumstances concerning the incident that cannot be solely put down to design faults.
This accident didn't happen as a result of the baby being left unattended. Do you have children?0 -
As much as the negative comments might upset you, i think you have to realistically consider the likelihood of this happening if the baby had been supervised at the crucial moment, can you honestly say that it still would have happened anyway?

This is one of those complaints that needs to be taken all the way.It never ceases to amaze me how products for babies and kids are brought onto the market with no regard for the safety of those using them,Mothercare needs a rocket put up their !!!!!0 -
The link posted above by kaza does not state that a baby needs supervision:
http://www.mothercare.com/happy-safari-Happy-Safari-swing/dp/B000TENYPK#productInfo
however, this one does:
http://www.mothercare.com/Fisher-Price-Friendly-First-Take-Along/dp/B001O404C0/ref=sr_11_1/280-9105472-1777351?%5Fencoding=UTF8&mcb=core
so, perhaps a bit vague? Hindsight is a wonderful thing but securely straping a child into a swing designed for a baby to sleep in for short periods of time shouldn't require 100% supervision...otherwise you may as well cradle them to sleep. Swings are very useful to take into the bathroom whilst having a shower in the mornings.
And as all parents will know it's impossible watch a child all the time. It only takes a split second for you to turn your back and there is a bumped head or similar.
Perhaps my only advice to Kaza would be to turn the swing mode off when leaving the room. Oh, and don't over use it. They're not great for the development of a babies back plus you don't want your baby to become over reliant on the swinging to get to sleep.0 -
thats terrible-hope they withdraw it.
-did you take photographic evidence of the babys head?- i would so they can't doubt you and also (as im sure you have) get the baby checked over at the doctors just incase!(it will be on file as well then.)
with lots of evidence you are prepared to take this matter further.
i would contact trading standards as they have greater power to get them removed off shelves.
lets hope this gets sorted out before too long.x:starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod:0 -
As a mum to 3 and grandma to one l cant believe that those suggesting the OP was almost negligent live in the real world!Nobody -even a saint could honestly say they are with their child 24/7 -if they are then would suggest they are over cautious in the extreme.
Kazza l suggest you give Mothercare a ring tomorrow and insist on being told whats happening.-and enjoy your baby! x:j this money saving is such fun:T0 -
I think an accident like that can occur in seconds, and you would need to be hovering over the thing to avert it. Whilst babies need high levels of supervision, I do think there is some responsibility in the design that this can seemingly happen easily. Maybe you aren't the only one as you say they are no longer for sale.
Try TS, even just for your own satisfaction, but don't hold out any hope they will be bothered unless there have been many more.
Anyway, thankfully he is fine and it looks like you have suffered much more:D0 -

Mothercare really do need a rocket! I am surprised that they still show the same lack of concern for the client base as they did 11 years ago when my pram kept collapsing on me with my baby in it! They showed a complete lack of interest and in the end (after returning the pram 5 times!!) I just threw it away. Obviously now, with the good people here, I would have acted differently. They seem to be too comfortable as the first port of call for expectant and new mums!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -

Or were you after compensation?
Wondered how long it would be till you crawled in:rolleyes:
I think on this occasion the op is more concerned about Mothercare ensuring that the product doesn't kill any babies...0
