http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1419093. Go to this thread and read your fellow moneysavers justify why its such big rises.

if thats referring to a post i put in said thread, i was not trying to justify the increases, well it may have looked that way, but i wasnt, i dont shop in the big retailers as we cannot afford to, and i cant stand tescos or asdas anway, Dave

Sickening, isnt it. Wouldnt surprise me if half of them worked in supermarket management, up to the hilt in company shares and with their 15% employee discount.

no no shares for me, 15% discount i wish, as said above i was not trying to justify the price increases, just what i was trying to say came out wrong, Dave

I changed to Sainsburys years ago. I found them cheaper even then. I also find the quality much better. I would be willing to pay a bit more for the quality, but getting it for less is a bonus.

Their own brand is the reason I go. It's generally very good. I can buy almost everything I need either from their regular own brand or basics range. I don't need any expensive branded things if I go to Sainsburys.

It's nothing amazing, they still p1ss me off a lot, but it's cheaper than Tesco nowadays.

When it went to court Tesco claimed that they were tax "avoiders" rather than tax "evaders" - what the difference is I don't really know.

Avoidance is legal, evasion is not. Tesco would worry about that.
