Tesco paying the price for greed?

I must admit I did chuckle to myself this week in my local Tesco when all the labels in Tesco were comparing the price against Aldi. Sign of the times with people watching their pennies more and Aldi offering more lines I suppose. I don't want to get into the debate about Tesco being the big bad wolf, all the stores will make a profit where/when they can it's up to us to vote with our feet if we don't like it.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0

i done exactly the same as you, finished shopping at tesco's 6 months ago, tesco's have become too greedy, and because of their lack of descent special offers, i go to morrison and Lidl now
Me three! I juts found it was ridiculously expensive compared to the occasional time my family would [STRIKE]ask[/STRIKE] tell me to go to ASDA.
ASDA actually have good standard prices and good offers, 50p for this, 3 for £1.50 of this compared to Tesco's 97p for this and 3 for £1.97 (save 15p) kind of rubbish.
I never actually saw myself ever shopping at ASDA as I always found it to be some nasty big cold warehouse compared to the nicer atmosphere of Tesco, but how times change!
Even Adams and M&S had international stores so it'sn ot a matter of offsetting the downturn in the UK but more a matter of sheer size of retailers like Tesco, Walmart, Gap who can whether the storm.0 -
Tesco's awful customer services has made me go to Sainsbury's.. much nicer food and you don't really pay that much more than any other supermarket.
Morrisons just makes me feel dirty..0 -

That's not the full story. The Guardian simply made a mistake (which it conceded and apologised for early on) - the offshore tax fiddling scheme it exposed was actually designed to evade stamp duty, not corporation tax as it mistakenly stated.
It was actually Tesco who were pressured into settling when the High Court ruled that the Guardian could introduce fresh evidence proving that Tesco does use offshore trusts to avoid corporation tax. This raised the prospect that Tesco would be forced to disclose other "schemes" and a whole new can of worms would be opened.
Tesco suddenly got extremely anxious and abandoned their demands for a half page apology on the front page of the Guardian, and settled for a derisory sum of less than £10k in damages to a charity of their choice - a far cry from the substantial 8 figure sum they originally wanted. Interesting.
And the High Court threw out Tesco's action for "malicious falsehood" (I presume this is the alleged "lie" to which you refer) against the Guardian's editor and awarded costs to the Guardian.0 -
I gave up on Tesco's as soon as Aldi opened just over the road. Only thing I use Tesco's for is cat food, I have fussy cats!0

how selfish are you? Do you really want tesco out of buisiness? If you dont like tesco dont go there. I go to tesco because I find it all round the cheapest place. Places like aldi do have some cheap quality, but I also find they have a ton of rubbish, and many things not all that cheap. Also Tesco customer service I find excellent. Im sure the thousands of people employed by Tesco will be as worried about their company as everyone else is right now. It is in the nations best interest for Tesco to stay afloat, we should be supporting every company in the interests of all, including (somewhere along the line) yourself, whether you shop or work at tesco or not0

who has said they want tescos to go under, i think i can say with 100% that tescos are not in any way in danger of going under, sales have slowed down, only to be as expected, but general concensus is that tescos large grip may be slipping just the smallest amount:eek:.
Take every day as it comes!!0
