Tesco paying the price for greed?

The Public could finally be wiseing up to Tesco's fake price cuts. I must admit to having a little chuckle when the figures came out showing them to have had a bad few months. Serves them right for being so grasping and thinking we would not notice it.

Only trouble is, if they feel the pinch, they may start looking at areas to save money - like stopping MOC and DTD.
Then I would be feeling the pinch.

Nice to see a successful British company that has had the foresight to expand over seas to offset a finite UK market.

  • These things tend to be cyclical, before Tesco 'took over' Sainsburys was the head honcho, Tesco have had a very good run but their 'run' would appear to be slowly coming to an end. Of course, they are at the moment so much bigger than the others so the end of the run won't be any time soon...but it will come.

Ironically, these Xmas figures are their worst since the LAST recession IIRC. Is there a trend emerging, I wonder? People tend to desert Tesco when they feel least wealthy? If so (and it can't really be argued if you look at it objectively) then so much for their 'Britains biggest discounter' claims.

Ps I have to say Sir Terry's performance recently seems to have been very much overshadowed by Justin King at Sainsburys...

It was the last recession that saw Tesco overhaul Sainsburys to number one spot. They reacted quicker and earlier to control costs.

  • Aldi actually sells nicer ham than Tesco, for 1/3 of the price. I am a real convert, having been a total snob before (going to a posh delicatessen for ham, buying only from Waitrose and M&S). Mind you, that was when I lived rent-free with my dad in London....

Yes but smaller than other supermarkets like Sainsbury's which will affect their share price.

There already seems to be a big drop in extra points coupons and till spits, in the last 2 quarters i have been well down on points compared tp previous times. Last year i payed for my holiday with virtually all points, i am nowhere near able to this year.
They have been treating customers like dim idiots for months with the yo-yo prices and phoney offers. What goes around comes around Mr T!
