Maybe we need to think of more innovative ways of getting people to read this thread:confused:
It needs to be a prerequisite to posting a thread

I've got a little thing that I wrote ages ago which I c&p in every so often, especially if someone has posted that they don't know how to.

It's part of the doc I have which is always open when I'm comping, for contact details, so it's easy to access.

Velvet's guide is the best thing, of course - it's so clear and comprehensive. It's just that a quick hint can help a newbie easily. I'll try to remember to include a link to the guide when I do that in future. icon7.gif

When I have come accross a winners list I have been attaching the list to the end of the original competition post in Game Over with the title Winners Announced or Winner Annouced do you think this is a good idea? or should I stop doing it

The reason I ask is that it could help to identify peoples names when they post in the I Won thread who may wish to remain annoymous

someone won today and as there was only one winner it would have tagged there name to there user name I did not post the winners name for this reason

should I refrain from posting the winners names  what do you think ?

maybe a BG could advise ?

Everyone who enter comps should have the ability to access the winners lists, therefore there is no need to post these lists on this site. It is true that we are a community that shares (and I love that aspect of the site) but that should not be to the detriment of maintaining anonymity. I, for one, have won a few comps but will not advertise on the site as this will reveal my identity. I have nothing to hide, but do not want to advertise what I think and do to every Tom, !!!!!! and Harry. xxx

I,m sorry for any problems that I have caused didn't realise that it would cause such a problem :o

and after listening to how people feel about winners lists being posted on MSE and also taking advice from the BG's

I have decided not to post any more winners names or winners lists

later on today I will remove all of my post's that have winners names on them ;)

Update: all winners names have now been deleted :D

Sorry ignore my last post. I started reading from the present. I now see that these posts will not be published

    Thanks

From looking at some of the posts, it seems that people do not PM a BG, not becasue they cannot be bothered to do so, but they do not know how to do this (or that they should do this).

It all goes back to the brilliant thread by VelvetGlove HERE (see #5)

    *Creeps in quietly & whispers*

"It's not number 5, it's number 2 which then refers back to number 1 if someone doesn't know how to do a PM" ;)

(Number 5 talks about the Telegraph site & how to successfully log yourself back out after entering one of their dreaded Data Protection Nightmare comps :) )

    *creeps back out again*
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

i generally change the title to gameover, so the bgs when they spot it move it to gameover
But sometimes it means we can't find the comps in the search as the title has been changed (or am I the only one that has this problem? :o)

Is there anyone in here from the Sheffield area? I've got a link to a local paper, but I've got quite a few that I'm monitoring at the moment. They only seem to post comps every 2-3 weeks. If anyone is interested, send me a PM and I'll send you the link.

Hi Everyone and HAPPY CHRISTMAS one and all :rudolf: along with a big thankyou to all posters (though I wish you'd leave me a few more to put on! now I'm working full time again I can't seem to get them on in time anymore ) and to the moderators who do lots of hard work.

Can I ask those board moderators why the competitions are moved so quickly on the day the competition actually closes.
I am up reasonably early this morning and thought because I missed doing any yesterday I'd do a few of the 21st competitions before I started on the 22nd ones but they have all been moved to Game over and it is hard to find them on there. I know from having been around the boards for 6 months now that lots of comps don't finish until midday, 5pm or midnight on the day the comp closes.
Would it be possible to leave them until the morning after they close so we all get a last minute chance to do a few?

    Many thanks

    Helen

Why do you have to call it a complaint rrickyuk which is very negative; discussing or pointing out isn't complaining.. I was asking nicely and said in my posting that it is VERY hard to find them once they are in game over the usual way of finding doesn't seem to work and I cannot see that it would make any difference moving them a day later as it is the same amount of work for the hard working moderators who are all :A
