If you can't sell them swap them. I swap my eggs for home made jam, the kids take them to school where they swap them with the teachers for chocolate buttons and my husband exchanges them at the barbers for a haircut. You can only sell from your doorstep without being registered. If you take them anywhere else to sell then they have to be graded, date stamped and you have to register as a producer.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Hi Eager Elephant,
I've added your thread to the current one on using up eggs as it helps to keep all the suggestions together.

Apparently it's because they are young. In a few years' time they will slow down in the winter (so I've been told)Hi,i make a homemade lemon curd which uses whole eggs and is made in the microwave, nice for filling cakes or on toast.

Hello I have about 2 dozen eggs that i need to use up Does anyone have any ideas what I could do with them???:rolleyes:0

Sorry if this has been raised before but we have two chickens who lay without fail everyday and as there are only two of us it is getting difficult to eat all the eggs. Two questions:
1. How long do you think they keep for in the fridge?
2. Any good recipe ideas? we currently do cake, omelettes and pancakes.
Thank you!0 -
Hi Orange,
This earlier thread should give you some ideas for using the eggs up so I've added your thread to it to keep all the suggestions together.
Have a look at this thread that has tips on how long to keep eggs and a link to how to check whether or not an egg is still safe to eat:

Hi everyone, I've done a search on eggs but it threw up so many threads that it's a hopeless task, so here goes:
It's a long story, but I have come into possession of lots of eggs, expiry date 12 June. I have given a few cartons away but I still have 60 left. Anyone can tell me what I can do with them, how long they will keep for and how to store them or what to do with them, bearing in mind that:
1) I'm not keen on baking
2) I love eggs but not every day!
3) due to my work schedule I can only invite peeps for dinner once in a blue moon, so that's not much help to use the eggs up.
Or should I sit on them and hope for chicks?
Thanks.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Make loads of icecream and freeze (and make some pavolas with the whites).
Or just make some quiches - easy peasy and freezable too."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Lol, i like your last option:D Eggs actually have a much longer shelf life than is printed on them. You can tell if an egg is actually off by submerging it in water. If it floats dont eat it.
Frittata takes a few eggs to make, you can also hard boil eggs and they keep in the fridge for up to a week. Handy for salads etc. I'm sure other people will have more/better ideas:oThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
