A word to the wise re your trees - best speak to your local council as apparently you can be fined for chopping down a tree without their knowledge and the tree doesnt have to have a preservation order on it either:rolleyes:
Duvet days are good days - they are time for you to rest and recuperate, I have days like that in the middle of the week only I take myself off to the spa and lounge about doing nowt, well I do do something, I read magazines and network with people. Today has been a wasteful day - spent mainly on the internet:rolleyes: Remember you need to have 'me' time.
Well, best go as I need to sort out some size 12 clothes for my mate - she is too skint to buy new (although she will do her utmost to spend spend spend:rolleyes:).0 -
As ever Z, says it so eloquently and i agree wholeheartedly with everything he says. Keep having he odd duvet day if it helps you and you have achieved an awful lot..even if it is p**ing on shoddy builder's parades!
Well done on clearing the 0% too. xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

Hi Horace
Thankx for posting. Good point about the trees and I have been trying to do this by the book.............I think it's one of the reasons why I'm feeling so despondent at the moment about not getting anywhere. Bluidy local government bureaucracy.....
Briefly i wrote to the Parish Council last October asking them to top the trees/hedging on the public footpath to the rear of my garden that were blocking out all the sunlight and they promised to send the tree warden round. I chased, got his number, rang and left messages...used personal contacts to approach him requesting said visit.......nothing. Finally in January, the Parish Council emailed saying they actually had decided that they weren't responsible for the trees (actually it's all small scale sycamore hazel and holly gone a bit wild and also now pushed over my fence so now I have no security to my back garden) ) on that part of the footpath and referred me to the county council. I chased....and they also said it wasn't their responsibility..... so I said....just give me permission and I'll get it done and pay for it myself while I'm having the rest of the hedging lopped and a conifer removed (latter all from my garden) which they agreed o do. At last....prorgess!!
The letter duly arried saying "you need to contact the District council in case there is a preservation order on any of the trees" :doh::doh::doh::doh:
Well, the Parish council tree warden KNOWS which trees have preservation orders...it's his job...that's why he's the one meant to come and see me...:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: ....and I also KNOW that, with the exception of the Cornish Elm (which i wasn't going to touch anyway as that is rare), the Council (thought it was Parich but may be District)...topped all the trees/hedging 10 years ago just before I moved in and again about 5 years ago. So no preservation orders on any of them except the Cornish Elm methinks.........Round and round...back to square one.
So now I am going to go ahead using a tree surgeon who has worked in the area for years and also knows the trees with the preservation order on....and knows the tree warden....hopefully he can come in and quote next week....(and for good measure I shall contact my District Councllor who lives four doors up from me and has complained about the trees to me in the past!...oops I feel another letter coming on)
Ooops this sounds a bit of a rant - sorry Horace, not meant to be...just not able to laugh about it yet:D:D.............Crawls back under duvet

Hi Z
:hello::hello::hello:
As always, you make some good points and provide food for thought.........and I certainly don;t want to go back to that dark pit again...
I think the whole issue about the trees is just yet another example of how frustrating and disempowering a lot of this stuff has been and continues to be at the moment....forward progress all seems to be dependent upon the actions (or rather inactions) of others..be they builders, utility companies, councils, insurance etc etc .I just seem to be spending all my effort only to end up standing still a lot of the time........
I suppose I'm getting a bit frustrated because it's just taking a lot longer than I thought to get back the old active me.....over 18 months now....and I'm not sure I'll ever fully get back to my old whirlwind self...not that that's necessarily a good thing
and I'm currently realising I still have a long way to go to get back to where I was at this time two years ago in terms of confidence, domestic, health and happiness levels (i.e. before the flood) when I felt in control of my life.
Hugs to you - and thanks flower

Speaking of which, have you watered the plants today??;)

There is a school of thought that says the bureaucrats are only there in order to justify their existance. A bit like when your only interaction with your appendix is when you are rushed into hospital.I suppose I'm getting a bit frustrated because it's just taking a lot longer than I thought to get back the old active me.....over 18 months now....and I'm not sure I'll ever fully get back to my old whirlwind self...not that that's necessarily a good thing
Stop looking back - and look forward. Your old active you led you down into a hole. With luck, the new you is now a little bit more aware of not doing that kind of thing. I know you think the "old you" was so much better - but lets face it, nostalgia isn't what it used to be, and I'm sure the new you is a lot better than you think she is.and I'm currently realising I still have a long way to go to get back to where I was at this time two years ago in terms of confidence, domestic, health and happiness levels (i.e. before the flood) when I felt in control of my life.

Nope, because it has been raining in that "my washing is out trying to get dry" kind of way. Ho hum...maybe tomorrow..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Ooooh....more good points Z.
:think::think::think:
OK.....So thinking further...... it's not necessarily about me "the whirlwind"...it's more about being able to cross jobs/chores/things-to-be-done off a list in a reasonable amount of time in order to feel I've achieved something and am moving forwards/making progress towards my goals....which is what I used to be able to do because only very few things were dependent upon others (and those that were could be incorporated without much angst into the whole scheme of things).... Whereas practically everything over the last 18 months (apart from the steps I've taken to recover my mental health and the injury to the hand)....seems to have been under the control of others.......which has not been nice at all............:o
Guess I'm just having a bad day....it's nest building time and unfortunately my nest (already a year overdue)...can't be re-built/restored to it's former glory properly without a load of other people getting involved .......like more builders/council etc.....and I'm feeling a bit scared and despondent about having to go through it all over again....:o
Hmmm..writing that last bit has certainly struck a chord...

Bingo. And the new you seems to be better at the "Hurry up and wait!" thing. Which is possibly why the old you didn't cope as well.Guess I'm just having a bad day....it's nest building time and unfortunately my nest (already a year overdue)...can't be re-built/restored to it's former glory properly without a load of other people getting involved .......like more builders/council etc.....and I'm feeling a bit scared and despondent about having to go through it all over again....:o

You are making progress - just stop beating yourself up about the speed of it.
YOU ARE MAKING PROGRESS.
Because you tend not to see or believe the good things...Hmmm..writing that last bit has certainly struck a chord...
As it would - you are a competant talented woman, who despairs at the abilities of the rest of us. It's important not to let everyone else's incompetancies drag you down.
