Well the main news of my day is the insurance company have given a final response to the loss of earnings/out of pocket claim for £60k owing to all the delays, inaction and/or mistakes made by their nominated agents.

Just to remind you, this was for temporary accomodation costs for me and piggies for the first month, unpaid annual leave that had to be taken to pack and transport all my things in the first month, travel to and from property (60 miles away) to attend meetings with loss adjuster/stripping out team etc adn to pack and remove my contents, psychotherapy fees following the breakdown in October 07, loss of interest on savings owing to delayed payments, and loss of earnings/business interruption/additional costs incurred from not being back in my house by the forecast date of last April and having to wait until August......(it did NOT include the money I now have to find to re-do the house following the last builders efforts or any money to repair the bridge....)

They plan to award me £350 for stress and inconvenience.

Just in case you thought it was a typo first time round....the figure they are offering is £350...against my claim of £60,000....

For once I'm lost for words....

He read the letter out verbally over the phone...so no mistake I'm afraid....it's in line with the "compensation for stress and inconvenience" payments awarded by the Ombudsman. The fact I am claiming for incurred financial losses (i.e. NOT compensation) as a result of the negligence/mismanagement of the claim by their agents doesn;t seem to cut any ice and they "do not cover consequential losses" .

So looks like I am not only going to have to go to Ombudsman, but 6 months later (takes them that long to make a decision) I will then need to go to court and sue on a no win no fee.:eek::eek:.

Not a happy Wol as was also told today my bridge works (as in the thing across the steam...nothing to do with dentists :rotfl:) ....will cost in the region of £15-20k _pale__pale__pale_ (I had budgeted for £10k tops).

Major rethink now required...may have to sell and take the triple financial hit of credit crunch plus defective building work plus flood record/ropey bridge....rather than plough more money that I haven;t got into the house.....gutted....
