That's because they're not used to luxury. You need to feed them truffles until they get used to fine food, then try breaking them in on dandelions...

Hmm...I've just read my first post and decided to look at what I've achieved since the beginning of this year....because it feels, in view of the fact the house is stll in the same condition as when i moved back in, that I haven't got very far at all icon9.gif. Part of this is because I keep concentrating on what i haven't done......(I am very good at beating myself up :o).....and on how much time I've wasted when I have duvet days........

On the plus side, the duvet days have reduced significantly and I now only have one or two a week (this time last year they were running at 6 days a week!)

So here is the list of what I have achieved since January:
    a) Builders finally kicked into touch with no more money changing hands
    b) Insurance finally settled the outstanding build and contents claim - but now off to the Ombudsman for the remaining amount (approx £60k)
    c) Prepared SOA and seriously reduced my monthly outgoings, especially shopping bill
    d) Brought in lots of work from Jan-April that more than cover my reduced outgoings and have potential contracts in the pipeline for rest of the year
    e) Paid of £9700 credit card bill at end of 0% BT rate
    f) Received money from parents following sale of the family home, now sitting in savings account offsetting mortgage (In case they need it back ;)) so bringing my MFW date forward
    g) Started to reclaim my garden - front beds all done, now starting on the back, lawns mowed and lawmower now returned from repair

I wish i felt more upbeat about it.....and I have just decided to cut out my objectives for the end of May in this post and will start another one.

    Back in a minute

As I have a lull in work until June, (but already invoiced enough to cover this )........I have set aside time until the end of May to visit friends, read books etc. However I also want to get the following jobs actioned during that time:
    1) get complaint in to ombudsman
    2) get central heating fixed (this should happen on monday:D)
    3) get fit - start exercising again when my bike arrives
    4) get trees chopped down and fencing replaced
    5) empty compost bins
    6) decide on scope of rectification works and agree start date with builders
    7) move piggies outside to free up my dining room
    8) Get quotes to rebuild bridge/do outside works and submit for planning permission
    9) tackling Southern Water about their plans to install a pumping station in my garden
    10) finish off business accounts/expenses/tax return
    11) Re-start spending diary and re-do SOA as it's gone a bit ropey the last couple of months
    12) start ebaying/recycling to declutter

:eek::eek:....I'd better stop now or I will thoroughly demoralise myslf adding more things to this list.

This weekend was meant to be raining - so I am meant to be reclaiming the house, ironing and tidying up....however the sun is shining and I am seriously thinking about doing some weeding......

No, I shall resist, and set to sorting out all the paperwork piled up on the table in the lounge.......

    Back later

Don't measure the time spent having the duvet days - think of the time you're saving not having a break down. We all need times to ourselves, and spreading ourselves too thinly is a recipe for disaster.

After all, you don't begrudge the time your car is in the garage getting a regular service, because you know the problems that will arise in future if this time isn't spent.

And that mindset will help into the future.

Isn't this about the point why I try to shoehorn a joke about a ladygarden in?

    Well done on the achievements.

But you should. You've got rid of the time wasters and the encumberances, and now you're free to focus on what you want to do.

    Patience... :kisses3:
