Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhh
I have just had the solicitors change AGAIN the completion date for my parent' house sale/purchase .....having re-arranged the date with the removal company this morning it's back on again for the previous date......and on ringing the solicitors....actually it's not confirmed because even though the buyers won;t budge from the earlier date, we haven't got a date confirmed from the sellers solicitors yet....and we're not even ready to exchange because the seller needs to do certain things before we can..and the seller has to find rented accomodation and won;t do that until exchange has happened so won;t confirm a completion date until we are ready to exhcnage..............so why did they send the sod*ing letter earlier this afternoon
Wont bore you with the rest of the details but really - surely they should match up correspondence from buyers solicitors and correspondence from sellers solicitors and all work together (It's every solicitor for their client it seems - no wonder so many chains fall through) before they advise a date and then change it....and then change it back again
Finally managed to raise my parents on the other side of the world to advise them of what has happened and what I intend to do depending on how things pan out tomorrow with the solicitors.....(guess what - their mobile phone is switched off so they didn;t get my text asking them to ring and they are out of email contact until friday.........but luckily I had the hotel number of were they were staying that day)
Bottom line as power of attorney is that I am on standby at the phone and computer over the next 36 hours to authorise exchange and sign the contracts before thursday lunchtime otherwise things will go bang..
........and this has eaten into most of my afternoon ....so haven't got the billable work done....

sheeesh Wol,
you're up to your eyeballs hon :grouphug: sounds like you're a 'one woman I will sort everything for everybody' show today.
Although most of the legal stuff goes way over my head:rolleyes: just to let you know that I do sympathise & am sending you some virtual wine & hugs

i spoke too soon....
NOW I GIVE UP

So after talking to my parents, here I am drafting an email to the solicitors confirming the verbal instructions I gave them earlier today and what happens - ping - my mum has just sent an email to the solicitors in reply to their letter (which I had told her on the phone was now defunct) saying they agree to everything in the letter. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.
So she's managed to completely contradict all my instructions given verbally earlier , confuse the hell out of everyone, completely undermine my position as power of attorney....and now I have to waste even more time trying to get this back on track again if I am to protect my parents interests......

On second thoughts - maybe I shouldn;t waste any more time and let them get on with it themselves :cool:Flooded 20/07/07.

I reckon go with number 3
Grrrr to parents - have had plenty of issues with my dad in the last 2 years which have resulted in tears of frustration & pleeeeeenty of wine just to keep my hand from winding round his neckalthough I hasten to add that I love him dearly & certainly dont advocate patricide as a solution

You know that this would have my vote!!!
Bloody pain in the @rse acting on their behalf, although clearly they asked you to do it because they knew that you had nothing else going on
Hey if they want to negotiate it from across the other side of the world so that all you have to do is show up and sign :T - or is that not what they want you to do (because that is the message they are sending.
It reminds me (on a much smaller scale) of cooking christmas dinner for my not-that-grateful parents a couple of years ago. The rule was 'either I do it or you do it but cooking isn't a team activity in my book' every time anyone came into the kitchen to 'check on my progress' [read: interfere] I simply said, oh have you come to take over. they ran for the hills!
Hope it gets les fraught. Remember you are doing them a favour and your contracts with your clients (not to mention your own house situatioin) have GOT to come first as you are trying to build your business back up and also to try to save your sanity.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
