    hi Both

Phew.....Stream has now gone down and no more heavy rain forecast so all can return to normal...(It's left a lttle pile of debris on my drive to show how close it came to the house...shame the flood doors never actually got a chance to show they work....but then again.....do I want to face that test and find they don't!! )

Anyhow off to tackle the nasty letter now.......and have busy busy day with work stuff.....I'll put the house stuff back in its proper places this evening..

Hey Wol2 - phew to none flood but it's pretty damn scary - especially at 3 in the morning  .

I live on a small hill & the river( more like a stream actually) Bourne runs along the small valley. Although we're on the first floor the river cant be seen at all usually - this morning it's spread itself all over the place & is clearly visible spreading up the opposite hill. Havent actually seen that for about 10 years  very scary.

Grrr to donkeyhole builders too

Glad you & piggies all safe & must reply to your pm :o sorry

Glad to hear you didn't flood, animals are very wise to weather changes I agree.

Bl00dy builders  Shouldn't the insurers be arguing with them?!

    Hi everyone

Thanks to everyone who has posted - it really does help me to get through the carp going on atm

Phew what a busy busy week and the weekend hasn't been much better.

    First the good news........
    • As you've already gathered - the house didn;t flood on monday :j
    • Keane were brilliant on friday - only free time I've had for last 10 days
    • I got a Valentines card on saturday ;)
    • My shopping bill this week was only £30 - and the chicken is cooking nicely as I type:cool:
    • I have generated enough work to more than satsify my outgoings til end of April ....but I am going to have to work long hours each day including well into the evenings to fulfill all the contracts I have.:T :T
    • I have just finished (10 hours work - started at 9.30 this morning...!) a first draft in response to the builders letter. :T  :j . I need to seek clarification from my surveyor on a couple of items and then ask him to issue it (however he has conveniently bogged off on holiday for a week so if I want him to check the letter and then issue it - which of course I do - I won;t be able to reply by the date specified in the builders letter - but in any case surevyor says that date was unreasonable as you're meant to get 21 days to respond apparently.
    • I'm coming to Manchester for the DFW meet:j
    The bad news...
    • I havent' cleaned out the piggies this weekend
    • I haven't finished cleaning the house :shhh:
    • I haven;t done the ironing (again) -it's now three baskets....
    • I havent; done the work I needed to do ready for next week and I'm out for 4 days seeing clients....
    • I'm knackered and think I'm finally going down with one of them bugs (so far managed to avoid the lurgies since I moved back into the house last August) - if I'm ill, no pay...._pale_
    • I need to get the car in for problem with brakes (hopefully covered by warranty) _pale_
    • England won;t win the grand slam :rotfl:
    • I got a stupid passthebuck letter from the county council about the trees adjoining my house  (only wrote to them at beginning of October...)

However on the whole, things do seem to be picking up. I still get the odd bad day (like yesterday) but nowhere near as many each week - and that's mainly down to concentrating on the work and also declining the vino in the evenings.

I'm lurking a bit - mainly in the early morning...and a quick look-see most evenings - but most of the time I have too much work to do atm...and I really DO need that money! Still, will keep posting updates on here as and when....and see you all in Manchester......

  • Hi hun

Sod the housework - life being too short and all that :rotfl:

Am much relieved about the flooding, as I was flying out it I saw that the forecast was that it was gearing up to rain quite a bit and I was wondering how you were getting on.

It is also good news that you have managed to get plenty of work in (although don't go burning yourself out now :naughty: )

And as for the Val Day card :T :smileyhea :happyhear :D
