Think I may stick to M&S who are apparently repeating their 'Dine for £10' offer and who accept their £5 off £25 food conditional spend vouchers without quibble (of course). You know the ones, Tesco managers, those M&S vouchers which Tesco are also supposed to be accepting according to Dundee (even though it's well known that M&S vouchers don't scan in T). But they are not accepted in stores when you spend £25 on food in Tesco and try to use one??
I know which seems the better bargain (and the better food) this time...
I don't know which store that you shop in to have this refused, but I would have accepted them in mine. Tesco accept all competitor coupons that are for conditional spend in the format of £x when you spend £y, but they don't accept them if they are for specific products ie £a off when you spend £b on wine. The only reason I can think that you may have been refused is if the M&S voucher stated food only, but being a mainly food retailer I would have accepted it.0 -
I so wish I hadnt got dragged in to reading this thread ! I am still none the wiser on the 'any bottle of wine' either.
CG19a - I was a stock controller for Tesco years ago, it is tricky to keep the store stocked, especially on fresh food. Everything is generally against you. I had some entertainment with the odd customer who I disliked, there was one who would always linger waiting for me to reduce a certain bread product, so I usually didnt until she had left.
As for the Tesco profit is my profit due to my shareholding, I would argue for every £1 of profit you make/save the fraction of it is so small it probably wouldnt fit on the calc screen. Staff shareholding is probably less than 1% (if you exclude the main board) and the last time I looked every £1 of revenue was worth 6p profit. I would say you would have a better impact getting rid of whoever created this office at head office, save their salary and dont make the mistake !0 -
At my local, the offer is still up, saying "any bottle of wine", but in the fridge, beneath the food are two types of wine - a red and a white. Both £4.49, I think. However, neither of them is a "Finest" wine. And it's supposed to be a "Finest" meal deal.0

Given that the last time I had a tesco finest meal (lasagne) I found a TOOTH in it, I won't be taking up this bargain! Even though I personally would love to rip off Tesco given their customer service took 6 months to apologise about the tooth incident!
That tooth was obviously left there by the official Tesco Customer Food Tester . . . .
If you send it back to Sir Terry Leahy - you'll probably get a letter of thanks and a voucher for a Tesco finest toothsome dessert0 -
I am a stock control manager for a Scottish store, thats about as much as I will tell you. Its more of an annoyance when people think they can take advantage of obvious mistakes. Yes everyone will scream at me "how am I supposed to know," but it wouldn't wash with me, if a customer was pretty genuine then in the interests of customer service I'd allow them a bottle, but picking up a £15 bottle is a bit extreme.
And for Bumble, no I'm not a glorified shelf stacker, stock control managers are actually the people who order the stock and try to make sure that the products are available in store, so my job is actually more office based, however that said, I'm not scared of going to fill a shelf.
When I worked in Tesco many years ago, it was all automated from when the items went through the tills, they automatically got reordered.
Surely Tescos wouldn't take a step back if the technology is there?
Also... surely this would have nothing to do with you if a customer came in for this, it would be the overall manager of the store or a checkout manager that dealt with it, so how would it provide you amusement?Lost lbs =

I think the point is though that a customer may not think it was a mistake. I would actually think that there is no way it could be a mistake because a company as large as Tesco wouldn't make a mistake like that. Surely the signage would have been signed off by several people for approval?
I don't know, I've seen several large tesco signs with incorrect spellings (patatoes being my favourite)... would Tescos hire/keep on that many thick people to check signs who can't actually do their job?:rotfl:Lost lbs =

!
And thereby is the problem in a nutshell.
Tesco staff blatantly hate their customer and try not to serve them well. Whereas in Sainsbury last week when I put an item that was earmarked for reduction in my basket the SA stopped me and reduced it. With that attitude it is a win-win situation.0
