A friend of mine missed out on an excellent opportunity (and probably a massive argument) the other day. She was going to buy a mobile phone reduced from £59 to £19 from a very large extra store. She took it through the till and was shocked to see it scan at £67. I thought I'd taught her well, but obviously not. She let the till operator know and refused to pay the scanned amount for the phone. Imagine if she'd just paid for it then taken a wander over to CS! £48 overcharge - that's £96 dtd refund! I think they'd have argued it, mind. Think the phone was a samsung, but not sure.

I've had a look round, but can't seem to find an answer to my question. I was in Tesco in Hull yesterday and bought an item at a self scan till. It was stickered at £1, but went through the till at £4.99. I went to CS, but they refused to issue me a DTD refund, as I had used a self service till & they said if they offered DTD when people were using the self service tills, the system would be very open to abuse! I had emailed Tesco CS, but as yet haven't had a response. Has this happened to anyone else?

Can you get DTD on items that are reduced for quick sale and you still get charged full price?

My local Tesco store refuses to accept that Tesco has a Double the Difference policy and only ever gives me the single difference when a product is incorrectly priced.

Where can I read the wording to Tesco's "Double the Difference" policy and print out a copy for the local store manager?

Last time I asked about their refund policy they said (after a poor attempt to look) they couldn't find the document.

    Thanks.

I've had the same problem this morning. They charged me £2.21 extra for the Muller yoghourts (BOGOF at the moment) and when I told the Cs manager about the DTD policy he told me that the policy has changed "yesterday". When I told him to show me the policy he said it is still on but it doesn't apply to offers (like BOGOF, which was my case). In the end they refunded me DTD, but just because I insisted.

I've just been to Tesco again just to check the blue board behind the Customer Service till and indeed it says clearly "If things don't add up - In the unlikely event you are charged more than the price on the shelf or product we will refund you double the difference", so next time I'll just point it out to the manager.

    Hello
I'm a little confused. Just bought a T shirt in the half price sale but was charged the full price of £6. Went to CS and she offered to give me £3 back. I asked what about your policy and after a bit of muttering she said OK. I was so pleased and she refunded my card with the £6 I had paid and I also took away the t shirt. Is this correct? (I had the t shirt for nothing in other words)

Thank you for your replies - I was wondering what exactly double the difference meant?
