  • What has your step son's Mother said about all of this? As he is in college I guess she is contributing to his upkeep in some way and if not why not.
  • Well today I've received the letter from social services basically saying that yes they did tell me not to leave my daughter with my husband & if I did she would have been classified as at risk. I've also the the lady from CAP over to drop round the letter that she has written on my behalf. I'll be sending these off to housing this afternoon.

TotallyBroke- My stepsons mother is well aware of the situation. She is not supporting us in any way- It was a deal between her and my husband that she would support the eldest son who lives with her and we will support the youngest. I get his child benefit and tax credits.

To be honest, she has very little to do with her son and apart from him going over 2-3 times a year they don't phone or anything.

In other news today I had my scan :j I really wanted to find out the sex of the baby so I could start looking for cheap clothes and things. As it turns out my baby is.......Stubborn  It crosses it's legs a lot better that I have done :p So I'm going to have to wait until may to find out.

You say you support the one stepson and his mother supports the brother.
The one you are taking care of is 17 and still a dependant, wheresd his brother older, is he not working surely should be supporting himself more now. I have a 20 yr old son though i don't get any help for him now as he is working, I actually get board from him and he pays for his own clothes and social life etc. Your stepson is hardly able to do that being at college. I hope you looked into him getting his ema which will help a bit and claiming from his college fund towards any equipment he should need..

Sorry, I should of mentioned that his older brother (who is 18) has ADHD and Aspergers so still requires quite a lot of care- although I think his mother gets carers or some other benefit. He also goes to special needs college.

I completely forgot about the EMA, so thank you for reminding me!
  • Hi everyone- Well I've just been turned down again. The letter I've received said that I can ask for my application to be re-viewed again before going for a full appeal.

Last wednesday I went to my doctors and she said come back in a week and she'll look at getting me into counselling with a view of putting me on a short course of anti-depressants. I'm not coping with this any more :( My doctor said she will write a letter to back me up, but will this be able to help my case?

I've been looking at private rentals around, but I still don't have the money for a deposit + 1 months rent. I've now got £600 in the bank, so completely screwed.

Appeal again but this time I'd seek out a specialist advisor

Did you go to Citizens Advice? They can help you with the wording for review.

    Housing benefit

I've been to CAB with the lady from CAP. They said that I needed to go back to them when I had my second application turned down- so I've now got to go back to them with the letter I've received this morning.

Is nothing going to go easy
