Posting them home could be a costly way of doing it. I've done this before and depending on what you buy, weight ect you coul dbe liable for extra taxes and cost of postage aint cheap...

I went across without luggage, bought a suitcase over there and stuffed it with stuff and brought it back..

I am flying back Delta from NYC and wondered what the bar(s) are like seeing as we will have an hour or two to spare. Is it worth/possible to pay for entry to the Delta lounge for the complimentary drinks??

i've never bothered with the delta lounge, as it is $50 for access per person.

There are 2 bars in Delta JFK Terminal 3, and i think i drank about 6 or 7 pints, of beer in a 4 hour stint (i was delayed slightly), and that came to less than $50...

NYC virgin going for my 30th - got M+M on Virgin PE and have told them its my birthday and they said I'd be spoilt!!! how does 3 nights first weekend in December (so busy I know but blame my parents for their timing 9 months earlier!) for double room with marble bathroom, kitchentte (not that we'll be eating in) and near to Central Park for $285 per night. The Beacon Hotel - looks good from website. Am I likely to get anything similar for cheaper at that time of year?

its not cheap but how many are there of you because you may need two rooms elsewhere then the price is comparible havent looked at the hotel in any form. Offski down to my little van in snowdonia for weekend snow forecast brrrrrrrrr

There's just two of us so the one room is fine. Prices seem to rocket in Upper Manhatten in December obviously, other places are $400+ which is why I thought this was reasonable.
  • Not stayed here but price is about $240 a night when you need to go - it is Hilton brand and new hotel so might be good. Location is pretty central as well - not exactly central park but a good base in my opinion

Check out the hotels on this link, top quality hotels, some $200 off depending on when you go, well worth checking out.

Well i've just finished reading the whole of this thread, my eyes hurt now. As a lone female traveller (only for the first day as I am meeting friends on day two), I was thinking of tour busing it on day one. I have only seen the one post though which recommended the new york party shuttle.

I now my friends want to do an open top bus tour. Just wondering which is the best to do a comprehensive perusal of NY. cheers
