Hi
I think I can check in on-line for my Delta flight 24 hours before I go. What are the benefits? I know when you check in on-line for Easyjet and stuff it is only without checked luggage - how does it work when you have to check a bag??? Sorry if this is a daft question.
Thanks0 -
Im off to NY on saturday and i cannot wait!! So excited! Does anybody know if there are any sales on at this time of year? And what can i expect the weather to be like?0

this link might help. Looks like sunny on sat, cloudy on sun, then showers for rest of week with snowy showers on thurs. Temp looks OK though so you should be fine. A few showers won't spoil NYC at all - when we got a bit of rain just hopped into a bar or went to see a film! Have a good un.

Very, very easy check-in ...no queuing just scan in passport drop bag off at drop off point and away you go once you have your cards.
There were several Delta staff there to assist and very smooth at Heathrow/JFK when we used it.0 -
Another Delta question!!
I have read their site regarding online check and it mentions waited upgrades?? Can you put in a request for an upgrade when you check in online? I am a member of Sky Miles if that makes any difference.
Also I have changed my assigned seats from 23A & 23B to 40A & 40B (to NYC) and from 24E & 24F to 40E and 40F (to UK) thinking we might get off quicker if near the back? Ideally I want a good view of MYC as we come in but cannot remember from previous trips which is best side - any thoughts on best seats???? PresumeI can change them again if I need to??0 -

I was near the back on both flights - but no you dont get off quicker - they only opened the front doors on my flight! I had to wait 40 mins to do the finger print thing due to queues...
Also they fingerprint the whole hand now at JFK for those who where discussing this earlier...thumb then the four fingers...think its a trial going on since January.0 -
IMO when flying to New York the right side of the plane is preferable as the approach is often down the east coast so right of the plane has a good view of land and the left sees more sea.0

front of the plane, front of the plane..
i was row 25, and i got through immigration, picked up bags, and through customs in a record breaking 22 minutes, from when we arrived at the gate...
flew from manchester, so narrowbody jet...
as for online check in, well at manc they just ripped up the boarding pass i printed, and they printed out their own, as they don't use them...
and in all my time flying to NYC, transatlantically, i've yet to see the NYC skyline from the plane..
yesterday from Washington DC to LGA, i did see it, and wow.. that was pretty..0 -
costingbunny wrote: »Thanks for that - I thought from previous posts it was all fingers. He is missing the majority of his wedding ring finger. Luckily we are both marriage dodgers (even after 10 yrs) so we have not had the dilemma of where to put a wedding ring!!
at JFK this time i came through, it is all fingers first, then thumb.
i'm sure there will be no problems, though, they'll just have 3 fingers and a thumb from one hand, but then if someone else comes through on your OH's passport (id theft scenario) and scans all 4 fingers on that hand, they'll get locked up, muahahahaha!
erm yeah.. right.. back to the city... got an upgraded room in the Cosmo Hotel, and got to check in early, at 11am.
oh, and the affinia 50 is ok, it's just a little lifeless around the hotel, and rather boring.. much prefer it down here in TriBeCa

It looks like there are one or two selected offers, but it's not generally a major sale time. Best offers are usually just after Thanksgiving (a bit like our Jan sales) but do quite often last until nearly the end of Jan.
We struck lucky with Old Navy a couple of years ago when skiing over Martin Luther King Day (about 3rd Monday in Jan) and a Bank hol - the sales were 50% off then for the Bank Hol weekend another 50% off - we were getting combat trousers for £4, I got socks for 50p a pair, a fake fur gilet for £5, furry slippers for £1, t shirts about 50p - we all stocked up big time!
Sorry, you'll have gathered I'm the shopper:eek: that this thread was missing til recently!
I have trawled through from the start of this one before posting, to try and avoid asking any annoying newbie questions, but can answer a few shopping ones hopefully to contribute.
Currently trying to persuade my DH that we need to go again this year! We usually go at start of Sept for the US Open Tennis and have seen flights and hotel (Radisson, Lexington) for £600 each for 5 nights - now if that isn't a bargain, I'll never persuade him!
So jealous of hearing about everyone else's trips - that's the downside of this thread I guess!0
