  • I don't know how anyone can think NY is boring.. theres loads to do and see if you don't just stick to the busy bustling tourist traps. There is a lot more to NY than Times Square. Yes there are dirty parts of the city but take a trip out of Manhattan and there is lovely scenery away from the tourists.
And I feel a lot safer in NY after a night out that in London with drunken Brits making a fool of themselves.
Fair enough if you didn't like it but NY is far from boring.

Okay guys - ideas for what to do party wise for my 27th Birthday in NY in late April, but also only 4 days after my marathon (i.e. nothing that is too energetic)...

Me and a girly friend are going so there will be us two and three other firends that live there :D

Something cool, funky but a bit quirky would be great! Like an all night subway trip, or the best club ever - I love randomness :D

Greenface - cheers for the suggestion - I'll check it out :D

HAHAHA I am turning 27 not 7 ;), but its unlikely I would do that anyway - although I reckon it would be quite amusing for an art project or something - taking pictures over one night of all the characters :D

The scenery would be better if you just kept riding the Staten Island Ferry all night, wouldn't it? Cake and candles at midnight. :D Wander round Battery Park in the dawn.

In your opinion its not boring, in my opinion I found it extremely boring. I have never felt unsafe in London, and never felt unsafe in NY even on the subway, which I hasten to add, was ace, and dead easy to use.

We did not spend much time at all in Times Square we found it an hideous place, we did go to the parts that were recommended to us, on this thread, and by a friend who has been 7 or 8 times, she was not surprised we hated it so much.

I have no problem with people loving the place, I really wish I did as believe me, I have wanted to go there for years. I would hate to go to Magaluf/Ibiza etc, but others love it.
I have been surprised by peoples reaction to me, and saying I had made a pointless post, just by being honest about how I felt about the place. If everybody liked the same things, what a world we would live in.

I have said all I want to now on this thread, and by no means was I trying to dissuade people from visiting NY, I would be a fool to even think I could. I just find it a little childish that some people can't read my posts for what they were.

You have to try these things or you never know. I have no regrets about going, as I said, I just wish I loved it like some of you did.
