If you want to buy a cheap suitcase in NYC, try Empire Luggage just off Canal Street. I bought my samsonite hard case there back in 2004, and it's done plenty of holidays, i personally don't think it's too heavy, and it only cost $75 back then, an absolute BARGAIN if you ask me..
I wouldn't buy any other brand of suitcase now, other than samsonite, but i feel that this one is indestructible, and I may not need to buy one for many years to come

I have thought about it, but the Samsonite was my grand dads before he passed away.
But I could go accross with just hand lugagge and come back with a suitcase...
Is that possible??
Remember to pack only a SMALL tube of toothpaste, in a resealable plastic bag, or buy some the other side of security.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thats also my main concern. Having the toiletries in my handluggage. So I might use an old suitcase suitcase, get there and bin it and buy a new bigger suitcase... lolDebt free from January 2019 - Paid off £31,161.70 in 7 years.10 year anniversary0

I bet you cant wait either.. Only ever used Bristol once to fly to Belfast a few years ago..Always been used to flying from a major airport before..
Bristol is a great airport:D, so clean and lovely - I flew to Australia (via Paris) from there one year - AMAZING and sooo Bristolian - 'you alright there me lover' is not unheard of from the check in desk staff!!!
(I'm from Bristol orginally and since they did the new terminal a while back its even better)0 -
Is it worth going out with the Samsonite and buying a new one over there to come back with? quote]

I flew across with just hand luggage and old clothes I threw away once worn (it was perishing and I wanted layers). I then bought loads of new clothes and a case to put them in. This was prior to the latest security measures though.'elf and safety guru0 -
remember, you only have £340 for all your customs allowance, (which is better than it used to be) so you really can't buy a whole wardrobe worth of clothes, or you'll be liable for customs duty and taxes...0

Yeah, but who actually pays attention to that? Unless your Coleen Rooney and flaunted all your NYC buys!! Stoopid0
