  • The diner is Ellens Stardust Diner and it is on Broadway
  • Going back a few posts to the B&B, has any one had any experiences of staying in a B&B while in NY.

I went to NY on the 18th Dec. We found it was cheaper to get theatre tickets from the ticket box in Time Square. You get them on the day you want to go to the theatre and they are up to 50% cheaper. We saw Mama Mia, Hairspray and Little Mermaid, all fantastic shows. Go to the Stardust Diner, the waiters and waitresses sing songs from the shows, its great. It was freezing when we were there -10 but still had full days. Get the Statton Island Ferry which is free to see statue of liberty.

There is a second TKTS booth down the south street seaport, which has been mentioned loads of times. Same shows, less queues.

Staten Island is in New York btw, and Statton Island doesn't exist ;)

the tourist attractions like times (i'm a tourist trip) square, the empire (my queue is too long and it's cramped up top) state building, etc etc..

Hello everyone, first time here :hello:

I'm off to New York in a few weeks and very excited - have been reading this thread and seeing how you all love NY so much I'm kind of like this at the moment :j - but also very nervous.

Sorry to all the regular visitors over there, but I really want to do the touristy stuff as mentioned above - oops :rotfl: Staying in Times Square, and want to visit Empire State Building :D as well as all the 'usual' things. Not too keen on queues tho, but I suppose they can't be avoided. I'm going for a week so won't have to rush around too much hopefully. :)

I am off to look at all your photos and no doubt will be glued to this thread for the forseeable
  • I'm planning a Thurs to Sun trip to NYC for a group of 10 blokes to celebrate our collective 40th birthdays!

Looking at weekends in Sep to early Nov on Kayak the prices seem to be a consistent £343 throughout this period.

Looking at Markymoo's advice this is 4* prices - anyone found any better prices?

If you read through this thread, and the previous one, people recommend doing top of the rock for the following reasons

    1 - less queues
2 - less cramped up at the top
3 - iconic photograph containing the empire state building, which people feel is one of the best landmarks in NYC.

if you're on the empire state building, you get a photo without it in!

I'm looking to fly from MAN rather than LON, we all live in the Manchester area.

I'm not really keen on changing flights as this is a short trip. Its a bit of a hassle to collect bags and change terminals and risk delays.
