Hi all,
I recently booked my flights for early march and am in the process of trying to book hotels, some things to do etc. The problem I'm having is that the hotelconxions site won't take any of our cards (we've tried 5 all with different institutions!) and the reason seems to be the address verification.
I'm having the same issue with a ticketmaster ticketexchange site for Rangers tickets.
The vendors in the US are saying that the address verification system isn't being used by some domestic or international financial institutions (why !!!!!!! implement it then?? Grrr!!).
I have however previously used the cards I'm trying for advanced bookings and purchases in both the US and Canada.
I'm trying to get some answers from banks etc but it seems wierd to me as two of the cards I've tried are mastercards.
Is anyone else having the same issues? Anyone had them and managed to get aound them?
Sorry, I can't help either other than to ask whether you have checked out Travelzoo for deals? We are going for a week in April and there are loads of great hotel deals on travelzoo for up to 31st March (v.frustrating!). We have managed to book our first 3 nights at The Algonquin for av. $150/night which is a great deal as normally double that. Includes breakfast and free wifi for anyone interested.

Hey everyone,
Have been looking at deals to go to NYC in May this year. When i last went to New York it was in Jan 2008 so obviously the prices vary a fair bit depending on the time of year. I was just wondering whether the price i've seen is a standard May price.
Its £675pp, direct flights from Scotland to Newark, staying in Roosevelt Hotel for 7 nights.
Any info appreciated.
P.S. Where is markymoo these days? How come he doesn't post on the thread anymore? He's missed!0 -
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

You are both right, women add 2 to their size whereas men only add 1.
Ie. UK Womens 8 = US 10, UK Mens 10 = 11.0 -
Well if id been wearing my high heel jimmy choos i wouldnt have posted.
Just begs the question why do women have to be awkward with their "different sizes"Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
I don't remember having a problem booking with hotelconxions, but it is a while ago now. I know it was a PO or Nationwide credit card, so have you tried one of them if you have one? And if not, worth getting one because they're good for use abroad - or were last time I checked ... one of them may now charge for transactions outside Europe ...
Thanks for the replies MM PM'd me as well with some useful advice. It was a nationwide card I was using. After speaking to them they claimed that the issue 'may' be that the Visa arm of their business might still have my old address as current and they would sort it out.
Armed with this info I went straight online and booked the hotel (with old address details) and it sailed through!!
Not such good luck with the teamexchange ticketmaster site however but I'll keep trying.0 -
Is it colder here in UK or in new York in february?? I'm getting worried with all this snow here lol x0
-
At a guess, colder there, usually, because of the Continental effect - being an island surrounded by theoretically warm currents keeps us temperate, whereas large landmasses have more extreme temperatures.
However, apparently we've got the wrong side of the Gulf Stream this year, so this year may be different, but I'd still bet that it will be colder there.Signature removed for peace of mind0
