    Hi,

We have been looking for a while and hopefully will be booking our first trip to New York very soon. At the moment lastminute.com is looking reasonable £1230 for 4nights (4-8th April) staying at The Tudor hotel flying with VA, has anyone stayed here before.

This is a bit of a nightmare trying to organise this as we currently live in Cyprus (OH's work) so we are flying back at Easter for our annual visit the whole family trip spread out over the UK etc. MIL has now said she will pick our 4kids (feel like dropping and running) up from Heathrow or Gatwick so that we can fly out again as this saves on hotels and hire cars etc toing and froing from Devon.

I am looking at everything trying to make an itinerary, shops don't really have a clue, all I am hoping is that I may get clothes and shoes I am 6ft with size 10 shoes.

    Hi
I have just booked to go end of jan and the hotel has cost me £250 for 3 nights in a 1 bed premium suite.
    Hope this helps :)
    Matt

thanks Matt- that seems really reasonable, how did you book that rate?

I can't get it any cheaper than £585 for 3 nights via hotels.com.....maybe I should wait a while to book?

At the moment cosmo hotel is coming up cheapest at £370 for the 3 nights, but in true MSe style I'd love to get that cost down!

shoe sizes are different uk 10 (euro 45) in USA they try to kid us by saying they have bigger feet but a size 10 uk is a 13ish usa.

All I would say, from my own experience, is that there comes a point where you just have to make a decision based on what seems to work at the time, and then work out the later ramifications nearer the time.

I have a feeling I'd booked our flights before I started looking at how to get to the airport. When I did that, I realised we'd either have an unfeasibly early start if we drove, or we'd be reliant on the very first train of the day not being cancelled. Fortunately the in-laws let us go and stay there, and took us to the airport, because at that stage I hadn't even considered the fact that you can either get five people into a Yaris, or luggage for five people, but not both at the same time. :rotfl:

Again, fortunately, our boys are old enough that you can put two of them on a train together (with student rail cards), and take the youngest and the luggage in the car. Keeps everyone happy on the rare occasions we all go to the same place with luggage.

    Hi all,

I recently booked my flights for early march and am in the process of trying to book hotels, some things to do etc. The problem I'm having is that the hotelconxions site won't take any of our cards (we've tried 5 all with different institutions!) and the reason seems to be the address verification.

I'm having the same issue with a ticketmaster ticketexchange site for Rangers tickets.

The vendors in the US are saying that the address verification system isn't being used by some domestic or international financial institutions (why !!!!!!! implement it then?? Grrr!!).

I have however previously used the cards I'm trying for advanced bookings and purchases in both the US and Canada.

I'm trying to get some answers from banks etc but it seems wierd to me as two of the cards I've tried are mastercards.

Is anyone else having the same issues? Anyone had them and managed to get aound them?

This is a perfect time to say that due to some people that have been and gone or others that have little to say of any substance These answers would be swallowed up by Mark.
Sorry ive never used hotel connexions but remember mark or phat saying you always click on the credit card option even if it debt card. Try a PM hes still around

I don't remember having a problem booking with hotelconxions, but it is a while ago now. I know it was a PO or Nationwide credit card, so have you tried one of them if you have one? And if not, worth getting one because they're good for use abroad - or were last time I checked ... one of them may now charge for transactions outside Europe ...
