I'd thought I'd 'liked it' ages ago but clearly not...

Anyway my May trip is turning out to look like a good one - Am flying to Washington to arrive on 20th, setting up and working till 26th, then I am going to our Boston office on 27/28th and then I am free to travel to NY but because its a weekend I wont have to fly back until 5th/6th June and I only use 5 days of my holiday = nice one!

Except it looks like I'm supposed to be in Madrid for 2-5 June so I may have to have my holiday before the conference and then fly from Washington to Madrid!!! :p

It's just occurred to me that we have been in NYC since Friday and not once have we been further uptown than 33rd street. Been to Brooklyn, Staten Island, New Brunswick and Queens but nowhere that most people that visit the city consider to be the quintisential new York!
Off to Brooklyn again to hang out in a friends comic book store and eat great Chinese food. Remember folks, there's more to New York than Times Square and Macys :-)

I was in NYC the other week and I believe NYC is a city to be walked and have walked many times from Penn Station to Battery Park.

Just back today and had a great time. Stayed at the Wingate on W35TH. $300 per room per night aprox for 3 in room.
Went to see Wicked on Friday evening (my first play) and it was fantastic.
Had dinner in The Boathouse on Saturday. Quality place but it was pouring with rain so they had to shut the doors. It might be better to go here in the summer or through the day, as you cant see anything at night.
I'd like to recommend Ruby Tuesday's (think it's Times Sq or 7th) for a meal. Good food reasonably priced.
Had a couple of nice walks round Central Park. Very busy on Sunday.
We got Subway tickets for 7 days. This is a good idea, it saves you money and they are great for getting you about.
Taxis are very reasonable too. (cheaper than Edinburgh) Don't be affraid to stop one.
Wife spent a small fortune on clothes at Abecrombie Fitch for my son. Got home to find she had got small so some don't fit. ( If anyone wants to buy some Small sized AF stuff let me know ;-) )
All in All a great time.
    Thanks for all the advice.

The best bits of NYC are below 14th street... this is why i'm stopping telling people about how touristy times square is so I can keep the good bars and restaurants to myself... *grins*

honestly... Brooklyn is awesome, and if you want to go to a comic book store, go to Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, NJ

We are going to Red Bank on Friday and if we have time we might go out to Chiller Theater in Jersey to gawp at Patrick Stewart and Richard Dreyfuss. The store we were in yesterday was the Monster Factory, real afficionados place but sooooo tiny.

I am always reluctant to tell people about our favourite places to eat as one in the lower east side only has about 6 tables!

My fav place to eat in NYC is on Broadway, about 3 blocks down from Times Sq, a little Italian Restaurant on the right hand side. Tiny little place with about 4 tables in it. I can't for the life in me remember the name!
