I used supershuttle... Booked it on expedia (Where I'd booked the rest of my holiday) for £11 each (There was two of us). It was nice because we didnt have to worry too much when we got there, just rang them from one of the free phones at JFK and waiting about 15 minutes. The driver also knew where we were going, so didnt have to worry about getting lost on our first trip!

So did we (for the first time) when we went to New York in May this year.
    It was rubbish.

We waited 20 minutes at the airport and then it took nearly 90 minutes to get to our hotel on the (UWS 75th St).

It would have been easier and quicker to use the Subway/Airtrain (which is what we did on the way back).

With 1 case each and hand luggage the Airtrain/Subway is perfect.
If we had more we would definitely get a car service.
  • Hey there,

I have been reading through this forum and have found it really useful and informative.

I have been reading up on how to get reasonable flights to New York for my honeymoon.

We are travelling on the 18th July 2010, and returning 2 weeks later. The best prices I have been quoted so far are around £1200 return for the two of us. Is this a good price, or should I hold off till later?

I have been reading about Marky's 3 month rule and was wondering if this applies for summer time next year.

    Any help appriciated.

  • I remember reading something in an inflight magazine last month when i was flying between Singapore and LAX on a code share. Apparently Kuwait air are doing ridiculously cheap air fares to New York?

    Might be worth checking out?

Honestly, if you go with that attitude, you won't enjoy it. There are people who i've spoken to who said the same before, and didn't like it. People who have no preconceptions, and want to explore, actually enjoy it.

Personally speaking I think that being over 4 miles away from the nearest train station, and over 50 miles away from Manhattan you're not really going to see NYC, you're going to see a lot of New Jersey.

I'm back and the Sheraton Hotel at Meadowlands NJ was a good base.
The courtesy bus took us free to Secaucus Junction and $11 for a return trip for two to Penn Station and a total of twenty minutes travel was just the ticket.
We asked for a view of NY from our hotel room, £70 for a double, and it looked great at night. I felt very Carrie Bradshaw from SATC!
Despite the fact there was a game on at the stadium next door to the hotel it wasn't crowded or noisy. We left before the game started so it may have got noiser later though! I think the home team lost and I think it was American Football?
New York was ok but I preferred Boston to be honest.
I did quite like Coney Island despite the fact it's a bit well worn.
I also liked the open green spaces near the Statue of Liberty.
Nothing I saw in New York could compare to the beauty of New England in the Fall and I'd recommend that trip wholeheartedly to anyone.
It's horses for courses really but I'm glad I saw New York and all the places I'd only read about or seen pictures of before.
Guess I'm just not a city gal!

    Hi,

Me and the boss (wife) are planning our first trip to NYC (30th Nov to 5th Dec) and we are staying in Hotel 91 (if I can remember from memory) anyway, I have read the posts and I remember someone saying that the city tour guide http://www.onboardnewyorktours.com/ny-see-it-all/ was good. I am sure many of you who have visited NYC have also been on the tours with different companies so I would really appreciate your feedback into the good and the ones to make sure I miss.

    Thanks
