anyone stayed in The Blakely Hotel?

Also, I was going to get a cab from JFK to the Hotel, but wondering if there are cheaper options (not subway)....had a look at www.newyorklimo.com could be cheaper....but wondering what others think?

Back in August for my September holiday I got $1.65, and things were still affordable, just not cheap. $1.60-$1.75 is around the right exchange rate IMO, and you can still get some bargains if you hunt around for them..

Another recommendation for staying in NYC and forgetting travelling all the way out to Woodbury Common! We went out on the bus last time we were there but didn't buy much and didn't get any real bargains compared to the bags of clothes we had already bought in Century 21 - go early when its not too busy and you should find a few real bargains - if you like A&F clothing, then Jersey Gardens might be worth a trip, its closer, cheaper and they have an A&F outlet there. Don't miss out A&F in NYC though, even if you have to queue, its an experience!

There are far better shopping outlets in the US, I got plenty of bargains within NYC to bother spending unnecessarily on a bus trip leaving the area.

Its a set fee into the city from JFK - I doubt a limo would be cheaper than a cab.

a limo, as in a stretch limo, would NOT be cheaper than a standard yellow taxi cab, which is a fixed $45, plus toll and tip, giving you a total of around $60. However, the cheaper option is a pre booked car service like carmel or dial7, and with a discount voucher, you can normally get these for about $5-$10 less than a cab, however, it does involve prebooking, and calling them on arrival.

  • I used supershuttle... Booked it on expedia (Where I'd booked the rest of my holiday) for £11 each (There was two of us). It was nice because we didnt have to worry too much when we got there, just rang them from one of the free phones at JFK and waiting about 15 minutes. The driver also knew where we were going, so didnt have to worry about getting lost on our first trip!
  • I used supershuttle earlier this month, good service and price

no no no no no! Please people, don't recommend the shuttle that is called Super Shuttle, because there is just NOTHING that I can find that is actually super about it.

In other cities, then you might be alright, but, you could be sitting on the super shuttle for 3 hours from the airport, just because that's the route the driver takes and gets to your hotel.

Please, be sensible, and either prebook with carmel/dial7 or just jump in a cab (which can take 4 passengers, and 4 cases if not a bit more!), or the moneysaving way and get the airtrain/subway.
