I do find that weird about the cards there - they can be either debit or credit depending on what they want to do with the money...strange...0
-
yeah, they can have 1 card linked to 2 accounts, so you can decide whether you want it on your credit card bill, or come straight out of your account... i have a friend over there who explained it all to me....
all the UK cards work no problems as long as you tell them to put it through as credit...

Ahh that could explain it, damn stupid american banking system, if i was going back in the near future I would give them a piece of my mindLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Ah yeah, cheers Markymoo - sure I had a couple of problems with credit/debit cards before so that might explain it!0

Im at the end of planning a surprise 30th birthday trip to NYC for myself and my hubbie.
Its our first time there and i have worked out a (probably unrealistic) itinerary.
On my OH birthday i would love to take him to some kind of sporting event, perhaps in the evening to round his day off.
We are away 19th - 22nd Dec and im not sure what sports seasons are over there (please excuse the lack of sporting knowledge i have).
I was thinking some kind of ball game? baseball, basketball, ice hockey etc.
Can someone give me some advise as to what would be fun evening and where & when to get tickets from?0 -
baseball runs in the summer
basketball will be the easiest to get a ticket to, mainly because the Knicks are crap beyond belief.
ice hockey is my winter sport, and i love it... you can get tickets, but probably not as easy as basketball
ticketmaster.com and choose willcall to book tickets.

Thanks M
Have taken a little look at ice hockey but cant find much on whilst im there.
Didnt have much luck with the knicks either...will take another look tomorow.
Have got the option of seeing the cirque de soleil instead ( i know not quite the same but still) - coud be a good evening?0 -
I've seen Cirque twice now, once in vegas, once up in Newcastle (yes, i travel to other places than NYC) and it is an amazing show, and would be well worth the money...
i've had a quick look at the schedules, and the rangers are away when you're in NYC, but the knicks are in town, against the charlotte bobcats on the 20th, at 7.30pm EST.. i can virtually guarantee that this game probably won't sell out, who are the bobcats?
Cirque will be a much nicer experience IMO0 -
Hi Mark
Are there any events you would recommend going to last week in Nov (not necessarily sporting)?
Sorry if you have covered this already but saw you were online and thought I would take the opportunity of asking!
too many comps..not enough time!0 -
ooh... depends what you like?!
Cirque is on at that time of year, so that's one thing you could do
Pixies are playing 1 date at the hammerstein ballroom, but I'd probably go see Royksopp if i were in NYC on that date (24th)
Check pollstar.com for events, ticketmaster.com too and just search for new york city..
