Thanks traveller..the subway is on 72nd Street and we was on 75th...that might sound a fair distance...two minutes would be about right if you fancied an ice cream on the way...less if you didn't :)

by the way that subway (1, 2 and 3 red) goes straight through all the attractions or a short walk from it

it is NOT the red line... just to reiterate, no subway trains in NYC are called by the colour.

Cool. Ive only just booked and not going until next easter so when would be the best time for me to email the hotel to request this upgrade? A few weeks before maybe? Or could I just get the upgrade when I arrive at the hotel?

Well I am going in December and have started making moves to upgrade now. The hotel is very slow in responding and i have waited for a reply for up to 2 weeks. They havent responded to me saying that i defo want the upgrade, so will probably call them instead now.

yup.. i am picky.... cos if i wanted to go from 72nd to 103rd street, and got on the first "red line" train, and didn't look at the number, and it was a 2 or 3, I wouldn't get to my destination. Only the 1 train goes to 103rd street, so even though they run on the same track, they split in places, and go to different areas. Then there is the local / express split. Maybe i am being overly picky, but it is to help people get around in the long run..

oh dear...I think if you go back I didn't mention 'red line'...this is what I wrote..

"by the way that subway (1, 2 and 3 red) goes straight through all the attractions or a short walk from it"

....which is the colour of the numbers ...some numbers are green...others blue

anyhow I'm sure people got my meaning
