BTW Air France is getting the double decker A380 aircraft for flights from Paris CDG to NYC starting 23 November 09 http://www.airfrance.co.uk/GB/en/local/guidevoyageur/destination/enchere_vol_inaugural.htm

Air France flys from many UK airports via Paris CDG and also has a codeshare from Heathrow LHR on direct Delta flights to NYC

    Hi all,

I have been reading this post for a number of weeks now and I am about to book my flights and hotel (Dec 1st -> 6th). I missed the good deal that KLM was offering a month or so back (Manchester ->JFK) for £250 each (there is 2 of us) so I will use my KLM airmiles (100k) and will still pay around £400 in taxes for the both of us.

I was on hotels.com and I noticed “ink48” and it is showing as a 4star hotel for £138 per night. I guess this is a new hotel (don't think it is open yet). Does this look like a good deal? We really only need somewhere to rest our heads and is clean etc as I am sure we will be doing plenty of the "tourist" thing – busy collating all the itinerary’s from everyone on the post already :-)
    Thanks

Having stayed at the New Yorker in the tiniest room I could have imagined ;) then I would say $40 for the upgrade is worth every cent.

Yes i am going with my partner and definately want to upgrade now. I looked at the photos on trip advisor and the rooms were so small, literaaly just about enough room for the beds!
I'm staying at the new yorker too in November and decided it was worth the upgrade for us.

Compared to a standard room it worked out £100 more- so £10 each extra a night.

For us ( myself and my mum) we thought it was worth this for the two double beds. It does also come with a view and a bigger room also but for us it was the 2 double beds we wanted.

If its the same for you and the bigger bed you want it could be worth it, are you going with your partner? If not and its a friend maybe you could request the 2 doubles.

I might upgrade now then. $40 is not a lot for a bigger room with guranteed city view!

Plus you get a seperate living area or you could just have the guaranteed view for $20

Hi guys, ive just booked 4 nights at the new yorker over easter next year and flights for me and my wife leaving from Birmingham direct with continental for total price of £1195. Is this a good deal? Im hoping so as it was the best I could find!

paul if its the best you can find then its a good deal if all taxes are inc and its during our holidays 600 each isnt cheap but you could hold on for better flight deals and scrape 50 each off by good timing or different web sites its your call. My way is i search for a good price then once im happy with the price i try to improve my options .. better hotel-/longer stay-/flight times /breakfast etc and try to stay withi that budget. good luck
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

Cool, thanks for the response. Well I could have got it for possibly 550
-ish per person BUT that would have been departing from the likes of Gatwick or Heathrow, and being as I live in Nottingham, I figured that flying from Birmingham for a few quid extra was a no brainer as we can get there in about 45mins-1hour and I HATE flying from London!

Yes total price for the New yorker hotel and direct flights was £1195 INC all taxes etc!! If I find it cheaper I'll kick my self!:beer::rotfl:

Cool. Ive only just booked and not going until next easter so when would be the best time for me to email the hotel to request this upgrade? A few weeks before maybe? Or could I just get the upgrade when I arrive at the hotel?
