You need to phone stubhub to process your order as due to a glich in their system they cannot accept orders from the UK, however if you give them a call they can sort you out, it should take no more than 10mins to get it sorted
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • Everytime I try with Stubhub, it says "state is missing" even though I've put United Kingdom. Did you get that problem?

Otherwise, might think about turning up on the day to get them although it's the Sunday 1:30 game we're looking at so might be too busy!

hey you obviously missed by post after!

I was just mentioning that their system doesnt accept uk or requires some sort of zip code/state code which we dont have in the uk, SO you need to give them a call and they will book them over the phone within 10min and give you a password to print off the tickets.

I dont have a clue if tickets are available on the day/prices/location so as a first timer its most more convienient to save the hassle and book them in advance, at least ur not worrying about whether you will get tickets.

    Hi
I booked my tickets with Stub hub via the internet from the UK in May. Send them an email with your address etc and they will sort it out. They took a couple of hours to do this depending on the time etc due to the 5 hours behind. I still had a slight problem with the fact that for my address they kept saying that Edinburgh wasn't the city but rather the area I lived in Edinburgh was (took me a couple of attempts later to figure this one out)

have been looking at hotels for my visit to NYC in November. None are particularly cheap but the New Yorker and Holiday Inn 57th Street are both coming up around the same price.

Any ideas on which is the better out of the two?

    Thanks!

I stayed at the New Yorker this May for 7 nights. The location is great and once you get over the initial shock of the room size it too was great. We had the cheaper of the rooms so I think the more money you splash out the slightly bigger the room, but we decided that we were not going to be spending that much time in our room so it didn't really matter. We found the staff in the hotel to be really helpful and as it was my birthday they gave us a room with a better view and on a higher floor. We had no trouble with noise, etc and the maids cleaned the room daily.

Location wise it was within easy walking distance of most places and there was a subway on nearly every corner surrounding the hotel. You can also get the train from the airport as the walk with cases from Penn to the New Yorker was minimal. There was also a Duane Reed (sp) for buying things like beer, water or coke etc just opposite the hotel, along with all the usual fast food joints. The hotel bar was reasonalbe enough (cost $7 for a smirnoff ice and about the same for a pint of Guinness)

Sadly cant comment on the other hotel as only stayed in this one. For what we wanted it was ideal and met all our needs whilst still leaving us cash for spending money.

I am thinking that I would be better of buying a New York Pass as I want to do and see all the touristy things.

I am assuming it would be cheaper to buy it online before we go but most of the sites are in $s so would I be better of buying them on a site that will accept £s? I will be using a Tesco Clubcard mastercard and I don't want to have to pay any fees to convert to $s.

I bought one of these for my trip in May and I found it to be ideal. I bought mine in the end through Expedia as I booked the holiday through them and it worked out to be roughly the same. You could contact Expedia via phone and ask about it as they may be able to sell you one - you just collect them from Planet Hollywood in Times Square.
My DH and I really liked this pass as you could go in to most places, no need to carry cash, and you could skip most of the lines as you got to go into the will call line. We also used it to get money off our meals and a free Dillons ice cream. Have to say we got our moneys worth with this pass over the 7 days we had it and the little book came in handy as a little map and it was small enough to carry round in your pocket.

Flights at the moment £411 BA from Glasgow to JFK via Heathrow, hoping to get these a bit cheaper through Student Travel Association as both me an my OH are under 25.
    !

Have you been on Continentals website to check out their prices as I tend to fly with them for a direct flight from Edinburgh and they normally work out cheaper as well. I know they fly Glasgow direct as well so may be worth looking and STA may be able to match/better the price. I hate how most flights from Scotland have to go via London for the sheer fact that it adds on so much more time to an already long journey.

Thing is... I know bars in Manhattan where you can get a pint of Guinness for $5, and a smirnoff ice for $6. So I have to say that the cost of the hotel bar is astronomical... $7 is £4.25 which is astronomical...
  • You were right about espn, tried to watch yankies game yesterday and the channels have gone!! oh well, do you know anywhere online where you can watch live/highlights?

£4 for a pint is expensive but considering i pay approx £3.90 in a normal london bar that aint too bad!

We're going from JFK to the Hotel Beacon on Broadway 2130 75th St on the airtrain/subway (13 August)

Saw this on another site...can anyone tell me what LIRR means?...and if anyone has been to the Hotel Beacon...is this the route you took? I'm only going for 5 days...would you recommend getting a 5 day ticket...or whatever they are called Thanks

    Here's your route:
    Airtrain from JFK to Jamaica
LIRR from Jamaica to Penn Station
1/9 or 2/3 subway (the red lines) to 72nd street subway station.
You'll exit the subway on Broadway, two or three short blocks from your destination (depending on which exit you take -- there are two exits).
