I am thinking that I would be better of buying a New York Pass as I want to do and see all the touristy things.

I am assuming it would be cheaper to buy it online before we go but most of the sites are in $s so would I be better of buying them on a site that will accept £s? I will be using a Tesco Clubcard mastercard and I don't want to have to pay any fees to convert to $s.

  • Hey All,

I'm a newbie to posting, been stalking this forum for a while though so thought i'd introduce myself ;)

I'm planning a holiday next July, flying to New York 30th June then up to Toronto (staying with family) for 2 weeks, then back to New York 15th July for 4 nights then flying home the 19th.

Never been to New York, been reading through this forum an got some great info, so cheers for that all previous posters .

Flights at the moment £411 BA from Glasgow to JFK via Heathrow, hoping to get these a bit cheaper through Student Travel Association as both me an my OH are under 25.

Through reading this and Trip advisor, got some hotels in mind - The Beacon, Embassy Suites, The Hotel at Times Square & Comfort Inn Midtown ? Also The Library Hotel ? Trip advisor rates this as 3 out of 421 NY hotels & if the exchange rate continues to improve we may splash out .

All are in our budget, anyone got any views on them ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thankkkkssss !
Whats meant to be will always find its way...;)

have been looking at hotels for my visit to NYC in November. None are particularly cheap but the New Yorker and Holiday Inn 57th Street are both coming up around the same price.

Any ideas on which is the better out of the two?

    Thanks!

Am doing a trekamerica trip next year, and the hotel the tour starts at is in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Was thinking if I flew to Newark this would be easier, and then in the spare day I have before the tour starts I could get into NYC on public transport.

Not sure anyone will be able to help me with the next question as it is more about New Jersey than New York - but the hotel the trip starts from is the Holiday Inn in Secaucus, and the rate TrekAmerica are quoting me is £69 per night in a shared room (with someone else booked on the same trip). Looking on BetterBidding I can get a room in Secaucus for around $50 - does anyone have any knowledge on this area? Ie if I don't win the Holiday Inn, but another hotel in Secaucus is it a small enough area that I could get from my hotel to the pickup one easily?

I would post your question on tripadvisor, bound to be someone local reviewing the pages who can help.

Great Idea - just added a question on there too
  • yep iv bought tickets for my visit from stubhub.com, printable e-tickets, have never been before but think it would be great to go to the match cos of the atmosphere as well as the game! The cheaper tickets will be in the top sections so maybe worth paying abit more for closer seats.?

Everytime I try with Stubhub, it says "state is missing" even though I've put United Kingdom. Did you get that problem?

Otherwise, might think about turning up on the day to get them although it's the Sunday 1:30 game we're looking at so might be too busy!
