  • That's what I'm thinking re: atmosphere and game! Even though I'm going with a New York newbie I think we'll have time to do all the New York tourist basics and also delve a bit more than my last trip.

Not sure I'm going to bother with Empire State Building this time around either as Rockerfella seems to be better - haven't done that before. Any thoughts?

yep iv bought tickets for my visit from stubhub.com, printable e-tickets, have never been before but think it would be great to go to the match cos of the atmosphere as well as the game! The cheaper tickets will be in the top sections so maybe worth paying abit more for closer seats.?

The cheap seats are actually the bleacher seats:

Ive got tickets for our 1st game on the 29th, yankees vs white sox.

I'd quite like to get tickets for baseball too actually. The Yankees are playing when I'm there and cheapish tickets are available for $15-25. Considering I don't actually know anything about the sport, has anyone else been and think it's worth it?

We went to our first baseball match in LA a few years ago, like you we didn't know the rules and really went for the experience. We really enjoyed it and found that the people around us were more than happy to explain the rules to us.

I'm a baseball fanatic.. bluddy love my baseball, and i'll be watching tv late night tonight when Yankees will beat the Red Sox and start a commanding lead at the top of the AL East.

I'm going on the 14th Sept to see LA Angels @ NY....

if anyone has sky, and has subscribed to ESPN, you can catch quite a few baseball games on either ESPN or ESPN America, so it might be worth brushing up on what's going on so at least you have some kind of clue.. the games normally last about 3 hours in total...

I watch the games live on ESPN America but how come they never show the Yankees games or have just not come across them? Also i dont have the sports package but espn america comes free, is it the same as normal espn?

Phatbear: yes the cheaper ones are the bleachers, as im not going to be going every week, i ended up paying $110 each for closer seats on the side. Im going to see NY v Tampa.

ps . if using stubhub you need to ring them up to book as their booking system requires a zip code or something which in the uk we dont have so you cant go past this. But it only takes 10min if you ring.

i e-mailed stubhub and they added my postcode in the db so it all should work... well i'll find out when i buy my ticket soon.. .

ok... ESPN America is in the ESPN pack on Sky, or it is in the Virgin XL pack depending who your provider is..

If you have recently been getting it and you're NOT subscribed to ESPN on Sky, that is because it was briefly in the News & Events pack... double check if you get it now..

As for Yankees games on ESPN, erm there is one tonight on ESPN / ESPN HD / ESPN America, and then Friday, Sat, Sun all on ESPN America... it's the Red Sox @ Yankees, and all 4 games in the series are LIVE!
