    OK, now I'm getting worried..

Booked flights with Continental to New York, was the only direct flights from Glasgow I could find.. and now some of the reviews look a bit dodgy to me.. :(

I'm not so bothered about uncomfy seating etc as the flight was quite cheap but I know my mum and dad will moan the face off me if it's bad :(

Aircraft is a 757-200 and some of the reviews say this aircraft isn't suitable for transatlatic flights??

    Anyone shed any light??

I flew with Continental from Glasgow to Newark in January. I also chose Continental because they were the only airline to offer direct flights. The flight was great, in my opinion. The air stewards were attentive and helpful, you did not want for anything. They were constantly coming around to refresh drinks, give you meals and snacks etc. This broke up the flight nicely as you weren't just sitting for 7 hours! They also had the head rest entertainment to play with. It kept me and my boyfriend occupied for the full flight. Has a range of films, tv shows, music and games to suit everyone. The seat pitch was fine for both me and my taller boyfriend. Enough leg room to stop you from getting cramped legs.

I would definitely recommend Continental to anyone who asks so don't worry about that and just look forward to your holiday!

    HTH :D

    Thanks KK22, that sounds good!

Can you believe the first time I went to New York I didn't realise that you got complimentary drinks on the flight :( Only found out in the last hour and tried to shove as many gins as I could down my neck lol!!

OK change of topic - basketball and the Knicks (although in recent years some would argue what the Knicks have been displaying does not count as sport but they're my adopted team and I want to see them at the Garden when I go in December).
The schedule wont be out until August but...trying to plan the rest of the weekend. I have 3 nights (Friday to Sunday) - is it likely that a game will be on the Friday or Sunday, so I can book something else for Saturday?

Also is ticketmaster the only option - I can only afford the $10 tickets on their site and guess I won't see anything there.
If the game is Sunday, what's the chances of getting returns when we arrive in the city, especially as everyone seems to be slating the team of late - will they be trying to fill the empty seats?

if the schedule isn't out, then it's very hard to say. They could be on the road when you're in NYC, it's happened to me before with the NHL, and the Rangers...

Ticketmaster is the main option, stubhub is a secondary one where fans will resell their tickets, however, for the cheap seats, which do sell out very quickly, will be more expensive.

I spend more than $10 going to the bar for lunch in NYC, it might be worth looking at the tickets 1 level higher in price, and you might get more choice..

it is the safest above 1 million (i think), it is the 3rd safest above 100,000

so there are 2 cities that are safer with a population between 100,001 and 999,999

As MM points out without the schedule can't really advise. I went to see them play MSG on a saturday afternoon which was great as it is a good mid-day option but doesn't eat into your evening where i prefer to go to bars and stuff. bought mine on ticketmster for around $45 on a specail which included a hot dog and drink. My seats were in block 319 or around there and trhe view was fine - i am imagining being in the gods and, although you are, the view is fine so don't worry about being too near - you don't need to be. I enjoyed the game but enjoyed the bits inbetween more - singing the anthem, t-shirt tossing, games for the audience and cheerleaders (boyf more than me i think!;)). Enjoy.

Yeah... good choice... they do the best nachos in the area IMO... the plate is HUGE...

but, for wings, you have to go to Mudville 9.. and they have a bigger selection of beer...

I wasn't too keen on Mudville....thought the beer a bit pricey at $7 where the Reade was only $4 for their own name and that tasted real good ;-) there were so interesting clientelle in Mudville though.

I loved Morgans but also found the pancakes with blueberries/strawberries great at the Soda Shop next door to the Cosmo. The breakfasts were very good in there but not everyday as cost and Morgans too good an option to miss.

I've been reading this thread for a week or so now, and felt compelled to join after the above post
Is that just with continental or any flights? I've booked with air france on 22nd August... Yes to stay in Times Square. Although to be fair, if I'd read this before I booked it (Which was about nine months ago), I'd probably have gone somewhere different.
