No unfortunately I booked in pounds, as at the time this seemed to be less hassel. Please let me explain i did not jump into booking with 1800hotels.com [although it might seem that way], i seached independantly using sites id used before like bookings.com, hotels.co.uk,asiarooms.com and of course the hotel website itself. None were able to match the price quoted via travelsupertmarket, which I have used previously for hotels and has always been accurate in finding a good deal.
I happened to be seaching for revies and came across quickbook which i have not heard of before, unfortunatly now i feel fullish!0 -
I take it 1800hotels is not going to let you cancel?
If not, I think I'd write one more email stating that the rules of the refund scheme are not made totally clear in the website, and at worst are a little confusing, as three different currencies are offered to book in, and appeal to their better nature, might not get you anywhere, might get you an upgrade or a partial refund.
BUT, most people will tell you on here, when booking a flight, hotel, car hire whatever, you were happy at the price you were quoted at the time, or else you wouldn't have booked it. So once its booked - don't look again!

thank you for your help hieveryone. Yes at the time of booking i was happy as it appeared to be 500 pounds cheaper than the direct website and yes i should not have continued to research it.
I will email 1800hotels with the advise above. BTW i read on their website it was a 20% cancellation fee which at the time of booking was fine as then i had no intention of canceling, this 20% would detear me from cancelling now. many thanks0 -
I'd probably mention in the email that even with the 20% cancellation fee, it's still cheaper for you to go elsewhere and see what they say

hieveryone- this is my reply to 1800, im a bit stuck any suggestions?:
Thank you for your email.
I find the rules of the refund scheme are not made totally clear in the website, and at worst are a little confusing, as three different currencies are offered to book in, and to most customer would choose, like myself to book in their own currencey when paying with a credit card, not realising that this could be something that would NOT be in their favour in a situation like mine.
Therefore, due to the confusion caused I am appealing to your customer services to consider my indivial situation regarding the currencey issue in light of the information i have given in the first paragragh.
Initially I was happy to book with 1800hotels as i thought i was getting a resonable deal with quick service but now i would be very hesitant to recommend the site to other customers as your "expert advise and great price" guarenteed is extremely misleading.
In my particular booking, due to the vast difference in price quoted, even with the 20% canceltaion policy it would be in my favour to book via the chaeper website.....0 -
Hi can anyone suggest a hotel to stay in, in new york in November? would prefer it to be 4*+
Also does anyone know when the christmas lights are turned on? I tried googling it but got a million different answers.

I've just mentioned a hotel above - the Staybridge Suites in Times Square, which look fab and get excellent reviews on Tripadvisor.
Have you been to New York before? It will be absolutely freezing in November, possibly with lots of snow!
No idea about Christmas lights, sorry!
