Personally I wouldn't book to go to New York with a package deal, there's just too many overheards and extra charges, when you can search out really good deals yourself.

Transport between airports and New York City is no big deal at all, and Newark and JFK airports offer bus services which I think are about $50-ish to go into NYC.

The F+F rate has been said to last until September so best book before then.

Thank you :)

Contintental have direct flights from Heathrow to JFK for £1032, which is even cheaper than BA, wasn't sure what ages the children are, so I put them between 15-17, might be cheaper if they are younger.

You are very helpful, thank you. The children are 13 and 15 :)
I am off to NY with my husband and 1 child in October, we are staying at the Crowne Plaza TS paid with points :) not everyones cup of tea I'm sure but not bad for just points.
I hadn't checked Continental as I have flown with them before and found them very uncomfortable.

I booked a 11 day trip to usa on saturday of which staying 7 nights in new york.
To search for what i thought were the best deals i used travel supermarket.
Having decided on thirty thirty hotel 7-14 sept it came up with 1800 hotels as the best deal at 1085.00 pounds sterling total. 500 pounds sterling cheaper than quoted direct by the hotel.
So we booked 7 nights at thirty thirty via 1800 hotels.com for £1085.
However yesterday i found it on quikbook.com for $1264 usd dollars approx: £780 pounds sterling.
1800hotels.com have a price promise if you logde a claim within 24hrs, which i did. However 1800hotels have responded saying they will not refubd the 300.00 pounds stering difference as quikbook is in another currency.
Here are the rules

Any advise is greatly recieved. tia
Anyone have any advise?

It clearly says in the rules that :

The accommodation at the lower price must be offered in the same currency as the booking with 1800hotels.com.

Where did you book the hotel? And why is there a link to the Irish site?

I booked the hotel via the link [after seaching on] travelsupermarket.com.
1800hotels.com came up with the cheapest price and after looked at the price quoted directly i booked.

When i went to lodge a claim under the price promise, i rang the number stated for uk customers, which is based in ireland so they told me to send the query to info@1800hotels.ie for uk queries. which i did and its them that i recieved the response from.

Ahhh now what is confusing is that 1800hotels.com gives you the option of looking at the prices in Euro, USD or GBP, whereas Quikbook is just in dollars. However the rules do say 'made in the same currency as the booking'. Did you book it in dollars by any chance?
