Transport between airports and New York City is no big deal at all, and Newark and JFK airports offer bus services which I think are about $50-ish to go into NYC.
The F+F rate has been said to last until September so best book before then.
Why pay $50 for a bus when it's only $45 for a private taxi, and $7.25 on public transport from JFK!0 -

and thanks for mser's advise on the topic
but if you book something that isn't cancellable, then it, erm, isn't cancellable.
there are plenty of people on this forum here that help and point in the right direction with websites etc etc.... so you should have asked before you clicked BUY IT NOW0 -
We want to stay somewhere central and safe
Thanks to pennylane99 for pointing out the NYC thread at the top. Let me just answer this question.
Ok, you want somewhere central. Well, NYC is a huge city made up of 5 boroughs, and an amazing subway/public transportation system. Now, central to me, would be the island of Manhattan. Thats 13.5 miles long, and 2.5 miles wide. It is safe.
Not any part of it. Manhattan is safe. Stop watching tv and films, they are fiction. New York City, (so including the other boroughs, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens & Staten Island) is the safest big city in the USA, and the 3rd safest with a population above 100,000.
Now bearing in mind that NYC has 8.3 million residents, that's a good statistic to prove it is safe.
Just, finally, don't stay in times square. all it is is flashing lights and flashing lights.

that's a bummer, but seriously, you'll waste a day, and be jet lagged from the flight and the time difference after work etc, and it could be with you throughout your holiday.
I'd be careful booking a late flight going out. Also, when you land back in the UK, it'll take around 2 days to get used to UK time again.... i've done NYC 11 times now, and however much I plan, or sleep, the time difference always gets me

Its the way it isbut thank you for your concern. We have to factor in train to Paddington>Heathrow Express>check in time. We normally fly around 4pm with the luxury of going straight to sister in laws. We'll have to drink Red Bull

So far I've found flights from netflights.com for £586 for 2 people from manchester thats including all the taxes
And for the Hotel Vincci avalon for 7 nights comes to $1545 for a superior double room. Which works out about £834.
So in total it works out about £701 per person
I hope these are about right. I am going in November.

I never get jet lagged when flying anywhere, strange. In saying that I haven't been further than America so who knows what I'd be like on a longer flight.. ?
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -
